Islamic Foundation gets new director general
Power Division’s additional secretary Md Razwanur Rahman has been appointed as director general (DG) of Islamic Foundation.
The ministry of public administration issued a notification signed by its Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mamun Shibly in this regard on Thursday.
Earlier on September 22, the government removed the then DG Muhammad Bashirul Alam and attached him to the public administration ministry.
Later, Md Saiful Islam, additional secretary of the Organization and Law Division of the ministry of religious affairs, was made DG of the foundation. He held the position in addition to his current duties until the new DG joined.

Razwanur joined Bangladesh Civil Service through the 17th BCS as admin cadre. He has experience of working as assistant commissioner, executive magistrate, assistant commissioner (land) and upazila nirbahi officer.
Moreover, he served as deputy and joint secretary at several ministries.
Before joining the power division, he worked as DG at the Anti-Corruption Commission.

First DG of Bangladesh Betar passes away
Enamul Haq, the first director general of Bangladesh Betar, has passed away. He was 93.
The veteran journalist breathed his last at United Hospital in the city on Tuesday night, said his family.
He was made director general of Bangladesh Betar after independence of the country. After two years, he was given the responsibilities of leading Press Information Department (PID).
In 1980, he was posted to Bangladesh High Commission in London as press minister.
He served as the editor of the New Nation newspaper and also contributed hundreds of articles for many domestic and international publications.
Haq left behind his wife, two sons and three daughters.
He was laid to rest in a graveyard at Baridhara J block .

Poet Nurul Huda appointed Bangla Academy director general
The government has appointed poet Mohammad Nurul Huda as the new Director General (DG) of Bangla Academy, according to a ministry of public administration circular on Monday.
Nurul Huda will serve in the position for a period of 3 years from the date of joining on condition he resigns from other organizations.
The post fell vacant after its DG Habibullah Sirajee died of cancer on May 24. Since then AHM Lokman, secretary of the academy, has been in charge as acting director general.

Nurul Huda earlier served as the executive director of Nazrul Institute.
He is currently the member secretary of the Nazrul Birth Centenary Celebration Committee at the national level.
The DG post at Bangla Academy fell vacant after its DG Habibullah Sirajee died of cancer on May 24.
