Premier Cricket League: Dhaka Abahani, Dhaka Mohammedan, Gazi Group Cricketers win their respective super league matches
Dhaka Abahani Limited, Dhaka Mohammedan SC and Gazi Group Cricketers won their respective super league matches of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket at the different venues in the capital and adjoining areas on Sunday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited maintained their supremacy in the six-team super league of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket beating Gulshan Cricket Club by 50 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
With the day’s feat, Dhaka Abahani Ltd top the list in the league table securing 22 points from 13 matches while Dhaka Mohammedan SC followed the leaders neck and neck collecting 20 points from 13 encounters while Gazi Group Cricketers in the 3rd slot with 10 points from 13 matches..
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a moderate total of 278 runs for all in 49.5 overs.
Opener Parvez Hossain Emon contributed a polished 83 runs off 70 balls with eight hits to the fence and four over the fence. Later, he was adjudged player pf the match.
Besides, wicket keeper Mohammed Mithun (45), Jishan Alam (26), Mrittunjoy Chowdhury (26), Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbu (22), captain Mosaddek Hossain (20), SM Meherob (16) and Shamsul Alam (14) were the other main contributors for Abahani reaching the double figures.

Farhaf Reza and Rayhan Ali Ikram grabbed three wickets conceding 39 and 43 runs respectively while Nihaduzzaman took two for 32 runs.
In reply, Gulshan Cricket Club were all out for 228 runs in quota 50 overs despite lower order Nihaduzzaman’s 82 runs off 73 balls with six four and five sixes.
SM Meherob, Rakibul Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby claimed two wickets each conceding 13, 17, 45 and 59 runs respectively.
In the day’s another match at BKSP ground-3, a brilliant century by opener Rony Talukder helped Dhaka Mohammedan SC to return to the winning run crushing Agrani Bank Cricket Club by seven wickets with 35 balls remaining.
Sent into bat first, the bankers’ team scored 240 for 9 in a curtailed 43 over-a side match featuring 82 runs in 16.5 overs in the opening stand by Imranuzzaman and Amite Hasan.
Captain Imrul Kayes (41), Amite Hasan (40), Imranuzzaman (38), Marshall Ayub (35), Jahid Javed (21) Robiul Hoque (12) were the main contributors for the Agrani Bank.
National all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin captured four wickets for 47 runs, Ebadot Hossain grabbed three wickets for 40 runs while Mustafizur Rahman took two for 53 runs.
Chasing a target of 241 runs, Dhaka Mohammedan SC faced no trouble to score the match winning 241 runs for the loss of only three wickets in 36.1 overs.
Opener Rony Talukder hammered a ton scoring 122 runs off just 100 balls featuring 10 boundaries and five over boundaries and was adjudged player of the match.
Another opener Anisul Islam Emon scored 82-ball 75 runs hitting six fours and one six while two down Tawfique Khan made 22-ball 27 runs hitting three sixes.
Arif Ahmed grabbed all the three Mohammedan wickets for 44 runs in 8 overs.
In the day’s remaining match at BKSP ground-4, Gazi Group Cricketers beat Legends of Rupganj by seven wickets.
Winning the toss, Legends of Rupganj batted first and were all out for 223 runs in 39.2 overs featuring 68 runs by opener Tanzid Hasan and 52 runs by another opener Saif Hasan.
Sheikh Parvez Jibon grabbed five wickets for 36 runs.
In reply, Gazi Group Cricketers scored the match-winner 224 runs for the loss of three wickets in 41 overs with national coloured opener Anamul Haque hit a century scoring an unbeaten 110 runs off 105 balls featuring 10 fours and one six.
Mahedi Hasan claimed two wickets for 57 runs.
