Ruet student among 4 dead after drinking ‘toxic alcohol’ in Kushtia
Four people including a student of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) died and five fell sick reportedly after drinking toxic liquor in Sadar upazila of Kushtia district early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Md Shaheen, 47, and Md Ratan, 21, of Sadar upazila, Sabuj, 24 son of Khalil of Mirpur upazila and Sifatul Alam Sipu, a student of Ruet and vice-president of District unit Chhatra League, 27, and son of Rakibul Alam, of Bheramara upazila.
Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, said eight people fell sick after drinking toxic alcohol on Sunday night. Later, they were taken to Kushtia General Hospital where three people died early Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Sabuj succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon.
No complaint has been lodged yet.
The bodies have been kept at Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

3 die after drinking ‘toxic liquor’ in Pabna
Three people died and two others fell sick reportedly after drinking toxic liquor at Chakchatiani in Pabna Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Robiul Islam Roman, 35, son of late Abdul Kader Khan, Jony, 30, son of Abdul Muhit and Rubel, 32, son of Robiul Islam Mukaier of the area.
Those fell sick are Sobuj, 31, son of Abdus Salam and Raton, 31, son of late Alam of the same area.
Quoting locals, Additional Police Superintendent of Pabna (sadar circle) Md Rokonuzzaman said the five friends fell sick after drinking liquor which they collected from the town on Thursday night.

Family members rushed them to Pabna General Hospital on Friday where Jony died Saturday morning, police said.
Roman and Rubel were referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). Roman died on the way to the hospital while Rubel died in the hospital while undergoing treatment, added Md Rokonuzzaman.
The two sick people are being treated at the hospital, he said adding that the bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.

3 died after taking liquor in Sirajganj
Three people died and two others fell sick after drinking toxic liquor in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj district on Monday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Wahab, 32, son of Abdur Rashid of Raghunathpur village, Mohammad Abdul, 45, son of Sikim Ali and Taher Sheikh, 48, son of Kalu Sheikh of Saraichandi Natunpara village in the upazila.

Bahauddin Faruki, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the five people look liquor a near Brahmmakhola Bridge in the upazila in the dead of night.
Later, Wahab, Taher and Abdul died at their respective houses while Babu Sheikh and Hazrat Ali fell sick. They were hospitalised.

Dhaka businessman dies from drinking too much liquor
A 35-year-old businessman died Sunday in the capital's Lalbagh after drinking a fatal level of liquor, police said.
Mohammad Ali, the father of two children, was declared dead after being rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency department unconscious, Abdullah Khan, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said.

Citing the doctors, Abdullah said, "Ali died from excessive drinking. His body has been kept in the Dhaka Medical morgue for autopsy."
However, Ali's wife Champa Begum said he fell unconscious in the morning after having breakfast.

Deaths from toxic liquor rising in Bangladesh
At least 16 people died from January 31 to February 5 in Bogura after consuming toxic liquor.
Md Abul Kalam Azad, the officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said: "Eleven people died from drinking toxic liquor in the district and the death toll could increase."

Also, three people from Asiatic-360 died after consuming toxic liquor while on a recreational trip in Gazipur on January 28. Around 10 employees of Asiatic-360 also fell sick and were hospitalised during the period.
At least 30 people died last January after consuming toxic liquor.

1 dead, 2 ill after drinking spurious liquor in Bogura
One person died and two others fell severely ill after drinking toxic alcohol in Bogura’s Gabtali upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam (28), a fishmonger and son of late Sirajul Islam of Madhyapara village in West Mahishaban.
The incident occurred at Madhyapara village of the upazila at around 2am on Saturday.

Police recovered the body of Shahidul and sent it to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The condition of the other two, now under treatment, is said to be severe.

Senior assistant superintendent of police (Gabtali Circle) Sabina Yasmin and officer-in-charge Zia Latiful Islam visited the spot.
The alcohol dealer Dr Bahanul Alam Badal, owner of Beauty Homoeo Hall in Golabari Port was arrested after the incident.

Gabtali Police Station OC Zia Latiful Islam said the allegations of death due to severe toxicity can be confirmed after the medical report comes.
However, the family of the deceased Shahidul Islam said on Saturday afternoon that he had died of a heart attack and not from drinking alcohol.
