Cyclonic storm nears as deep depression intensifies over Bay: BMD
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning as a deep depression over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal is on the verge of developing into a cyclonic storm.
The system was last recorded at midnight near 15.9°N latitude and 90.1°E longitude. It has since moved west-northwestwards and is currently situated roughly 725 km west-southwest of Chattogram port, 650 km west-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 730 km south-southeast of Mongla port, and 680 km south-southeast of Payra port, according to Meteorologist Shaheenul Islam of the BMD on Wednesday.

The depression is expected to continue its west-northwesterly trajectory, with the potential to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the coming hours.
Wind speeds around the system are already reaching 50 kph, with gusts up to 60 kph within a 48 km radius of its centre. Rough seas are anticipated around the deep depression, posing risks to maritime activities.

Depression over southeast Bay intensifies into deep depression
The depression over southeast Bay and the adjoining area has intensified into a deep depression.
At 6 am on Wednesday, it was centred about 1550 km south of Chattogram port, 1470 km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1550 km south-southeast of Mongla port and 1505 km south-southeast of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction till May 11 (Thursday). Thereafter, it is likely to recurve gradually and move north-northwards.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 km of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain moderate near the deep depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no one.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Depression over Bay intensifies into deep depression
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number 3 as the depression over the east-central Bay intensified into a deep depression on Sunday morning.
“It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction,” said the weather department in a bulletin.

According to India Meteorological Department, the deep depression will intensify into a cyclonic storm and reach West Bengal, Bangladesh coasts on October 25.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50-60 kph in gusts or squalls, it added.
The sea will remain rough near deep depression centre.
Under its influence, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh are likely to experience squally wind of 40-50 kph in addition to heavy (44-88 MM) to very rainfall, the bulletin added.

Besides, the low-lying areas of coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to take shelter immediately and remain in shelter till further notice, it added.

Deep depression over Bay likely to weaken gradually
People in the port areas can heave a sigh of relief as the deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is unlikely to intensify into a cyclone.
The deep depression has moved in the north-northeasterly direction and is likely to weaken gradually, according to the weather department.
At 6am on Tuesday, it lay centred about 835 kms south of Chattogram port, 750 kms south of Cox's Bazar port, 960 kms south-southeast of Mongla port and 880 kms south-southeast of Payra port, the Met office said in a special weather bulletin.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kmph rising to 60 kmph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.
Meanwhile, maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number one.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay of Bengal and the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep waters.
Meanwhile, the trough of westerly low lies over the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas, the Met office said in a forecast.
Rain, thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet & Chattogram divisions, said the weather office.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Deep depression in Bay of Bengal intensifies into cyclonic storm ‘JAWAD’
The deep depression over west-central Bay and adjoining area moved northwards further intensifying into a cyclonic storm ‘JAWAD’ at 12 pm on Friday, the Met Office said in a weather bulletin.
“It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-westerly direction,” the forecast said.

Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre as maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in squalls, the bulletin added.
"All boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," it added.

Deep depression intensifies into Cyclone ‘Gulab’; Rain likely across country
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places in the country as the deep depression over East Central Bay and adjoining Northeast Bay intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’.
“The deep depression moved westwards and intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’ over Northwest Bay and adjoining west central Bay”, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said on Sunday in a regular bulletin.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over southern part of the country,” it added
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
It is likely to move West-Northwestards further. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Centre of the Cyclone to Assam across Bangladesh.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Besides, the maritime ports of the country have been advised to hoist distant warning signal number two.
It was centred at 6 am on Sunday about 665 kms Southwest of Chattogram port, 630 kms Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 525 kms South of Mongla port and 530 kms south of Payra port, said the bulletin.

It is likely to move in a West-Northwesterly direction further.

Signal 3 for maritime ports as depression intensifies into deep depression
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been directed to keep hoisted local cautionary signal 3 as the depression over Northwest Bay and adjoining Odisha coast intensified further into a deep depression and moved West-Northwestwards, said a Met office bulletin on Monday.
It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction further, it said.

Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The met office advised all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Besides, the low lying coastal areas of Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira, Chattogram, Jhalakathi, Bhola, Barishal, Patuakhali, Barguna, Bhola, and Laximpur are likely to be inundated by wind-driven surge of 2-3 feet above the normal astronomical tide.
