Maritime ports advised to hoist cautionary signal 3; More rains likely
The country’s maritime ports have been advised to hoist the local cautionary signal 3 as deep convection is taking place over the North Bay due to active monsoon, said the weather department on Saturday.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra, said the Met office.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice, it reads.

The Met office forecast light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

More rains to lash Bangladesh in 24 hours
The weather department has predicted more rains across the country in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
“Light to moderate rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lighting flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur and Khulna divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the department said in its bulletin on Thursday.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The mercury reached 36.0 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.3 degrees in Tetulia.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area over the westcentral Bay and adjoining Andhra coast persists. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh, it added.

Low pressure likely over North Bay in 72 hrs: Met office
A low pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay in the next 72 hours, the weather department said on Tuesday.
A low-pressure area is a region where the atmospheric pressure at sea level is lower than that of surrounding locations.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.

Showers are also likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, it said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum rainfall in the country was recorded in Sylhet at 133 mm in the 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday.

Met office predicts more showers in 24 hrs
More rains are likely to drench Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over the country and moderate over the North Bay, the weather department said Thursday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its forecast.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The Met office recorded the highest 35mm rainfall in Madaripur in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting & Warning Centre of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) said the flood situation in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona districts may keep improving, while it is likely to remain the same in Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria districts in the next 24 hours.
The flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Serajganj, Tangail and Jamalpur may also improve.
Besides, there is a chance of short duration floods in the low-lying areas of Rajbari, Shariatpur and Madaripur districts in the next 24 hours, as per the forecast of the Flood Forecasting & Warning Centre.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra in Bangladesh have been advised to hoist at the mast local cautionary signal three to alert vessels of a possible squall.
The weather office's advisory for cautionary signal number three -- which means that a depression has formed and may affect the ports later -- comes in the wake of a well-marked low lying over Northwest Bay and adjoining Bangladesh-West Bengal coast.

“Under its influence, deep convection is taking place and a steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay and adjoining areas,” said a Met office bulletin.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it added.
"All boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice."
According to the daily weather bulletin, light to moderate rainfall or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind may occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Similarly, many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall, as per the bulletin.

Low pressure over Bay turns into well-marked low
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary Signal No 3 as a low pressure over the North Bay turned into a well-market low.
“The low pressure over the North Bay and adjoining area now lies over South-western part of Bangladesh and adjoining area as a well marked low,” said a Met Office bulletin.

The Bay depression is likely to move Northwestwards. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, the centre of the well-marked low to Assam.
One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
