The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Thursday approved eight procurement proposals, including setting up of a 42.5MW waste to energy power project in Dhaka.  

Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, which generates some 6,000 tonnes of garbage every day, is expected to see a sea change in garbage disposal once the country’s first proposed waste-energy plant in Aminbazar goes into operation.
