4.3 lakh Yaba pills seized in Cox’s Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 4,30,000 Yaba pills during a drive at Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
The illegal drug was being smuggled to Bangladesh from Myanmar through Alugola Majhekathi border in the early hours of Sunday, said a BGB media release on Sunday.

Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB-2 under Nazirpara BOP conducted a drive in the area around 1:30 am and challenged six people.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the suspected smugglers jumped into the Naf River leaving four plastic bags and fled to Myanmar.

Later, the patrol team recovered the Yaba pills from the bags they left at the spot.
"Efforts are on to identify the smugglers," said the release.

‘Drug trader’ held with 30,000 Yaba pills
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained a suspected drug trader along with 30,000 Yaba pills from Baroitoli area in Teknaf upazila on Monday night.
The arrestee is Sirajul Islam, 25, son of Mohammad Shah of Baroitoli village in the upazila.

Tipped-off, a special patrol team of BGB-2 conducted a drive at Sirajul's house and detained him along with the Yaba pills, said Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB-2 Battalion.
During the drive, two mobile handsets and Tk 5,000 were recovered from the possession of the arrestee.

Sirajul was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station, he added.

Coast Guard seize 2.1 lakh yaba pills from Naf river
Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) conducted a raid on the river Naf in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar district and seized 2.1 lakh contraband yaba pills early Monday.
Media officer of the BCG headquarters here Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman said that based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the Naf river by BCG station Teknaf under BCG East Zone at around 2:15 am.
During the operation, the BCG members saw a locally made dinghy coming towards the Bangladesh water territory from the Myanmar frontier in the Naf River area of Sabrang Noapara.

As the boat crossed the border, the movement of the boat appeared suspicious and a Coast Guard member signaled the boat to stop. Realizing the presence of the Coast Guard, someone on the boat threw two yellow plastic bags into the water and quickly fled to the border of Myanmar. Later, Coast Guard members picked up the two sacks from the water and searched and seized 2 lakh 10 thousand pieces of yaba tablets, Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman said.
He further said that the seized Yaba consignment was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.

BGB seizes drugs worth Tk5.6cr in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said they seized banned drugs worth nearly Tk5.62 crore from Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila Sunday night.
Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB-2 Battalion, today said they seized 1.65kg crystal methamphetamine and 10,000 yaba pills from the Kharangkhali area near the embankment along the River Naf.

Tipped off, two patrol teams of BGB conducted a raid at Kharangkhali at midnight. At that time, a man who was trying to cross into Bangladesh from Myanmar took to his heels after seeing them.
Later the BGB teams found the crystal meth and yaba pills wrapped in a cloth at the spot.
Although the BGB men were hot on the trail of potential drug smugglers, they could not detain anyone in connection with the seizure of the illegal drugs, Iftekhar said.

Drug peddler held with Tk1.5 crore yaba pills in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) claimed to have detained a drug peddler with 50,000 yaba pills worth Tk1.5 crore from Cox's Bazar's Teknaf Friday.
The detainee was identified as Md Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, 20, of the district, Lieutenant Colonel Md Mehdi Hossain Kabir, commanding officer of BGB 34 Battalion in Cox's Bazar, said.

On information, a team of BGB 34 managed to nab the peddler travelling in a three-wheeler from Palongkhali union parishad around 4:30am.
The yaba pills were found under the passenger seat of the vehicle.
Mostofa was handed over to Ukhiya Police Station, Mehdi said.

Over 4kgs crystal meth, 1.5 lakh Yaba pills seized in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday seized over 4 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 1.5 lakh yaba pills in a drive in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-2 intercepted a boat in which 3/4 suspected smugglers from Myanmar were heading towards Jaliar Dwip around 5am, said Commander of Teknaf Battalion (BGB-2) Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar.

The smugglers, however, jumped into the Naf River and managed to escape.
Later, the BGB men seized the crystal meth, yaba pills and 25 kg of current nets worth Tk 25.89 crore from the boat.

Drug peddler held with yaba pills in Dhaka
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Friday claimed to have arrested a man from the city's Hatirjheel on charges of selling yaba pills.
Rab-3 conducted a drive in Hatirjheel's Mirbagh area at 9:30pm and arrested Arif Babu, 38, from Gosairhat upazila, Shariatpur.
Around 765 yaba pills, mobile phones, SIM cards, one knife and Tk2,160 were recovered from the possession of the accused, Rab sources told UNB.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee said he is an active member of a drug smuggling ring
Arif buys yaba pills from Cox's Bazar and sells them to different areas of the capital, according to Rab.
"Legal action has been taken against him," it added.

Police arrest 3 with Yaba pills in Brahmanbaria
Police arrested three people including a woman with 1,200 pieces of Yaba from Nabinagar municipality area of Brahmanbaria Thursday night.
The arrestees have been identified as Liton Dev, his wife, Moni Rani Dev, and accomplice Mainul Islam. They are residents of Nabinagar municipality.
Aminur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabinagar police station, said on secret information they conducted a drive at the house of alleged drug peddler Liton Dev on Thursday night.
He said police team found the Yaba pills from the possession of the trio during the drive.

A case related to drug peddling against them was filed at the local police station; the OC said adding that the arrestees have several earlier cases on drug peddling against them.

Cox's Bazar man held with crystal meth, yaba pills worth Tk5.57 crore
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a 25-year-old man with 1.055kg crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 10,000 yaba pills from Teknaf upazila, Cox's Bazar Wednesday.

Yaba pills worth Tk 3cr seized in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Friday claimed to have seized some 100,000 Yaba pills worth Tk 3 crore during a drive in Cox’s Bazar.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted the drive around 3.30am in the Rahmater Bill area of Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Sensing the presence of the border guards, suspected smugglers opened fire. Members of the force retaliated, forcing them to flee leaving the banned drugs behind, the BGB said in a release.
A legal process is underway in connection with the seizure, it added.
