Cabinet purchase body clears procurement of huge wheat, fertiliser
The cabinet committee on public purchase (CCPP) at a meeting on Wednesday approved 11 procurement proposals, including the import of 50,000 metric tons of wheat and 90,000 mt of fertiliser.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the virtual meeting.
As per the approvals, Agrocorp International Pte Ltd., Singapore will supply the 50,000 mt of wheat at a cost of 29.1069 million (equivalent to Tk 179.50 crore) under an international quotation invited by the Directorate General of Food.
Each metric ton of wheat will cost $421.38.
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will import 90,000 mt of urea fertiliser from three companies under three separate lots under state-to-state contracts.
Of these, the Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE will supply 30,000 mt of bulk granular urea at $10.3524 million (equivalent to Tk 115.16 crore) -- each ton at $ 450.833.
Muntajat of Qatar will supply 30,000 MT of bagged granular urea at $10.314 million (equivalent to Tk 111.71 crore) -- each MT $436.83.

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) will supply 30,000 mt bulk granular urea at $10.2775 million (equivalent to Tk 108.90 crore) – each mt at $425.83.
Two proposals of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) also received the CCPP nod.
Of these, the BREB will award a Tk 84.42 crore contract to MANS Electrical Ltd, for the supply of 13,040 distribution transformers for the electricity distribution network expansion project at Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
It will ward a Tk 71.23 crore contract to Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Ltd, for the supply of 51,359 SPC poles for the same extricate distribution project.

The committee approved a tender proposal to award a Tk 123.91 crore contract MONICO Ltd, Dhaka for the construction of a land port at Ramghar in Khagrachari district under “Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project-1: Development of Sheola, Bhomrah, Ramgarh Land Ports and upgradation of Security System of Benapole Land Port ''.
The committee also approved a proposal for appointing a consultant for Cox’s Bazar airport runway construction project and awarding two separate contracts for administration building construction of Sheikh Hasina University, Netrakona and its land development project.

Cabinet purchase body nods LNG import
Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Wednesday approved eight procurement proposals including the import of LNG.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting.
As per a proposal, placed by Energy and Mineral Resources Division, state-owned Petrobangla will import 3.360 million MMBtu of LNG from Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore, at a cost of Tk 267.57 crore. Each unit will cost $8.01.

Three proposals of the Roads Transport and Highways Division received the nod of the Cabinet body.
As per the proposals, Roads and Highways Department will award a Tk 188.35 crore contract to Spectra Engineers Ltd, under package No-PW-02 of its Project “Installing Excel Load Control Centre at the Transport Sourcing Points in the Important Highways”.
The Roads and Highways Department will extend the cost of 25km road improvement from Cox’s Bazar to Ukhia by Tk 13.43 crore under the package No-WP-01 of Cox’s Bazar-Tekhnaf Road Development project and also Tk 16 crore for 25km road improvement from Ukhia to Unchiprang road of the same project under the package No-WP-02.

The committee approved two proposals of the Railway Ministry.
As per approval, Bangladesh Railway (BR) will award a contract of Tk 433.78 crore to Joint Venture of (1) CREC and (2) CCCL, Dhaka, to implement the project: Construction of Broadguage Rail Truck from Madhukhali to Madura via Kamarkhali under its package No-WD-1.
The BR will award Tk 448.98 crore contract to Joint Venture of (1) CRCC and (2) MAHL, Dhaka, to implement the work under the package No-WD-02 of the same project.

The Cabinet body approved a proposal of the Health Services Division to procure Tk 80,734 cartons of 27 kinds of drugs from the state-owned Essential Drugs Company Limited, for community-based healthcare (CBHC) authority through direct procurement method.

Cabinet purchase body approves import of 50,000MT rice
The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase on Wednesday approved six proposals, including import of 50,000 metric tonnes of rice.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the meeting.
Rice import has been dominating as a regular agenda in the purchase body meeting since the beginning of 2021.
Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Sahida Akter, while briefing on the purchase committee meeting outcomes, said that the Directorate General of Food under the Food Ministry will import the 50,000MT non-bashmoti parboiled rice from Bagadiya Brothers Private Ltd of India at a cost of Tk 176.38 crore.

Each MT will cost $416, Akter added.
The committee approved a proposal of the state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to import 100,000MT crude oil from PT Bumi Siak Pusaku (BSP) Zapin of Indonesia under a government-to-government contract at a cost of Tk 431.14 crore for Bashundhara Bitumen/Asphalt production plant in Keraniganj.
About the proposal, BPC Director (operation and planning) Syed Mehedi Hasan said the state-owned petroleum body will import the proposed crude oil for the private bitumen plant under a contract with the Bashundhara Oil and Gas Company Ltd.

A proposal of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Industries Ministry received the nod of the Cabinet committee to purchase 30,000MT bagged granular urea fertiliser from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company (Kafco) at a cost of Tk 90.59 crore.
The Cabinet body approved another proposal of the BCIC to import Reformed Gas Waste Heat Boiler and associated equipment from BORSIG Process Heat Exchange GmbH, Germany, at a cost of Tk 56.65 crore through direct procurement method.
The committee approved a proposal of the Roads and Highways Department under the Road Transport and Highways Division to extend the contract of the Computer Network System Limited as service provider for six months up to September 30, 2021 for collecting tolls from Meghna Bridge and Gomti Bridge on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at cost of Tk 35.57 crore.

A proposal of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) under the Ministry of Shipping was approved to purchase 10 bollard pull tugboats with spare parts, each having 12 tons capacity, from Dockyard and Engineering Works at Tk 166.97 crore through direct purchase method.
