Law Minister Anisul Haque presided over the meeting in absence of the committee head Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday.
The committee approved a proposal of the Food Ministry to import of 50,000 MT non-Bashmoti parboiled rice for the financial year 2020-21 through international quotation.
PK Agri Link Private Ltd of West Bengal, India, won the contract at a value of Tk 2.08 crore. Each kg of rice will cost Tk 35.27 while each MT rice will cost US$ 416.
The committee gave its nod to a proposal of the state-owned Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) to import 25,000 MT of bulk prilled urea fertiliser from Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat), QPJSC Qatar under a state-level agreement at a cost Tk 54.68 crore.
A proposal of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) received the approval of the committee to import 600,000 MT DAP fertiliser from MA’ADEN of Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk 2097.97 crore under a state-level deal.
The committee approved a proposal of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to import 40,000 MT of octane at an approximate cost Tk 129.63 crore.
Another proposal of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division for the appointment of Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation (TGES), Japan and Nippon Koei Co Ltd (NK), Japan (JV) as consultant for conducting feasibility study on implementing a deep-sea LNG terminal at Matarbari port at a cost of Tk 43 crore.
The request for proposal (RFP) evaluation of bidders and selection of terminal developer will be part of the consultant’s job.
The committee approved a proposal of Roads and Highway Department to award contract for upgrading Anwara upazila connecting road to 4-lane Upgrading Karnaphuli Tunnel Connecting Road (Shikolbaha-Anowara National Highway) to a joint venture of National Development Engineers Ltd, Taher Brothers Ltd and Hasan Techno Builders Ltd at a cost of Tk 266.14 crore.
A proposal of Public Works Department to award contract for “Construction of 15-Storied residential Tower Building with 17-storied foundation including two basements” to Desh Unnayan Ltd & Haque Enterprise Ltd at at Tk 64.12 crore at Cumilla Police Lines.
The project where each apartment will be a size of 1,000 sq ft and each floor will have eight units, will be implemented for members of Bangladesh police.
Civil internal sanitary and water supply, internal electrification, external water supply, boundary wall, and internal road arboriculture are included in the contracts.
The committee approved a proposal of the Family Welfare Department to procure 54.50 million cycle of oral pills (3rd generation). Techno Drugs Ltd and Renata Ltd jointly won the contract to supply the pills at a cost of Tk 272.5 crore.
A proposal of the Payra Port Authority received the approval of the Cabinet body to award a contract for emergency maintenance dredging works at the Rabnabad inner and outer channel of the port to Jan De Nul of Belgium at Tk 408.87 crore.
The committee gave approval to a proposal of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to award contract EnergyPac Engineering Ltd Bangladesh for installation of three new substations, upgrading of six substations and extension of three bays in Mymensingh Zone at Tk 70.52 crore.
A proposal of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to extend the contract of the German-based consultant ILF for another 12 months for the project titled: “Installation of Single Point Mooring (SPM) with Double Pipeline” at a contract value of Tk 72.24 crore was also approved.
The company’s works include the review works of detail design, new works out of contract, and also project management and contract management services. The contract will be awarded under the Prompt Increase of Power and Energy Supply (Special) Act 2010.
Another proposal of the BPC under the same project received approval to award a contract to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd at Tk 472.43 crore for installation of pipelines in deep post-trenching system at the Kutubdia and Matarbari approach channel.
The contract will also be awarded under the Prompt Increase of Power and Energy Supply (Special) Act 2010.
