BPL Football: Both fixtures end goalless on Saturday
Both the 5th round matches of the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football on Saturday (January 27) ended in goalless draws at two separate venues across the country.
Bangladesh Police FC shared points with old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in a goalless affairs at the Shaheed Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Saturday afternoon.
BPL Football: Holders Bashundhara Kings to play Dhaka Abahani Ltd in a titan battle on Friday
In the day's other match, Sheikh Russel KC split points with Fortis FC also in a goalless draw at their home venue --Bashundhara Kings Arena--Saturday afternoon.
On completion of the day's 5th round matches, Police FC advanced to the 3rd slot in the league table toppling Dhaka Abahani Ltd by virtue of better goal difference, despite both the teams secured seven points each.
Federation Cup Football: Sheikh Jamal DC assure knock out stage outplaying Rahmatganj MFS 4-1
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table with all win-record securing full 15 points, Federation Cup champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC maintained at the 2nd slot securing eleven points while Dhaka Abahani Ltd went down to the 4th slot also with seven points.
Three teams --Rahmatganj MFS, Fortis FC and Sheikh Russel KC-- collected five points each and shared the 6th, 7th and 8th places respectively due to goal differences.
The 6th round matches will begin on next Friday (February 2)

Dhaka Abahani Ltd will face Police FC at 3 pm at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh while Sheikh Russel KC will play Rahmatganj MFS at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here, also at 3 pm next Friday.

BPL Football: Muktijoddha Sangsad KC upset Sheikh Russel KC
Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra upset former champions Sheikh Russel KC beating them by 1-0 goal in the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football'2022-23 at the at the Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.
After a barren first half, striker Aminur Rahman Sojib scored the match-winning goal for the freedom fighters' team Muktijoddha in the 62nd minute (1-0)
With the day's well merited victory, Muktjoddha Sangsad KC moved up to the 8th slot in the league table securing 10 points from 10 matches while Sheikh Russel KC remained at the 4th place with their previous credit of 14 points from 10 outings.
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league with all-win record collecting full 30 points from straight 10 matches while former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited followed the leader distantly with 21 points from 10 matches.

The day's other league match between Bangladesh Police Football Club and Chittagong Abahoni Ltd ended in a 1-1 draw at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh Saturday afternoon.
Kyrgyzstan defender Almazbek Malikov put the Police FC ahead in the very 5th minute from a penalty (1-0) while Nigerian mid-fielder Ojukwu David Ifegwu leveled the margin for the port city team Abahani in the 43rd minute (1-1).
With the day's feat, Bangladesh Police FC advanced to the 3rd slot in the league for the first time securing 16 points from 10 encounters while Chittagong Abahani Ltd remained at 10th slot in the eleven- team fray with eight points from 10 matches.

BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings continue unbeaten run beating Sheikh Russell 3-1
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings continued their unbeaten run in the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football Saturday after beating Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra 3-1 at the Bashundhara Sports Complex.
Star-studded Kings topped the league table with 21 points from seven straight matches; second-placed Dhaka Abahani earned 15 points from as many encounters.
Sheikh Russell remained in the fifth spot with 12 points from six matches.
After a goalless first half, Brazilian forward Robson Robinho put the Kings ahead in the 65th minute from a penalty (1-0); Uzbek midfielder Asror Gafurov doubled the lead in the 73rd minute (2-0).

Nigerian striker Sunday Udoy pulled one back for Sheikh Russell in the 82nd minute (2-1).
Robinho sealed the fate of the match by scoring his second goal for the Kings in the fifth minute of the stoppage time (3-1).
The day's other match between Bangladesh Police FC and Fortis Football Club ended in a 1-1 draw at the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi.
Sakhawat Hossain found the back of the net for Fortis in the 37th minute. Edward equalised for Police FC just three minutes later.
After the day's match, Police SC remained in the fourth spot on the table with nine points from seven matches. Fortis stayed in sixth place with seven points from six encounters.

In a battle of former champions, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra 3-2 in a tightly contested match of the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2022-23 Saturday afternoon in Gopalganj.
At the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium, Sheikh Jamal dominated the first half 1-0.
After the day's match, Sheikh Jamal remained in the third spot after securing 11 points from five matches. Former champions Dhaka Abahani remained in the second spot with a better goal difference after earning 11 points from five matches.

In the day's match, St Vincent forward Stewart put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 34th minute (1-0). Bangladeshi forward Mannaf Rabby doubled the lead in the 49th minute (2-0).
Uzbek defender Timur Talipov pulled one back for Sheikh Russell in the 69th minute (2-1).

Dhaka Abahani beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 2-1 at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Saturday to get their first win in two matches of the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football.
Former champions Dhaka Abahani made a frustrating start to the league after playing out a 1-1 draw with newcomers Fortis SC in their opening match.
In the day's match, Costa Rican player Daniel Colindres put The Sky Blue Brigade ahead in the 10th minute (1-0). Brazilian forward Michael Morais equalised for Old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 60th minute (1-1).
Abahani midfielder Meraj Hossain Opi scored the match-winning goal in the 73rd minute (2-1).
Midfielder Sohel Rana was sent off in the 45th minute, putting The Sky Blue Brigade down to 10 men. Rahmatganj forward Noyan Mia was also sent off in the 63rd minute.

In the day's other match, Dhaka Mohammedan played out a goalless draw with Bangladesh Police at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh in the afternoon.
Also, Mohammedan, who made a good start to the BPL beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad 2-0 in their first match, lost an important point against Police, who also made a good start upsetting Sheikh Russel 2-1 in their first match.
After the day's matches, Mohammedan, Abahani and Police shared the second slot in the league table with Sheikh Jamal, securing four points each from two matches.
Champions Bashundhara Kings dominated the league securing six points from two matches.

Dhaka Mohammedan SC made a good start in the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-0 goal at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Saturday.
After a barren first half, Spanish forward Daniel Ricardo put the traditional black and white team ahead in the 50th minute (1-0) while Mali striker Souleymane Diabate conformed the Mohammedan's victory scoring one more goal in the 86th minute from a penalty (2-0).

BPL Football begins on Friday at three venues
The eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, country’s most prestigious football competition, begins on Friday (December 9) at three venues in the capital and in district headquarters.
Holders and Independence Cup champions Bashundhara Kings will play newcomer Azampur Football Club, Uttara at Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka, Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Fortis Football Club Ltd at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will meet Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj, all matches will kick off at 2:30 pm on the opening day (Friday).
In the remaining first round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd will encounter Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad KC Ltd at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla while Independence Cup finalist Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra will play Bangladesh Police FC at Bashundhara Sports Complex, both will kick-off at 2:30 pm.
The 2nd round league matches will be held on December 23-24 after a 12-day recess for the victory day while the 3rd round matches will be held on December 30-31 after the Christmas Day.
The first phase league scheduled to be completed on February 18 as per fixture announced by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Thursday.

BPL Football : Uttar Baridhara relegated from top league
League runners up Dhaka Abahani Limited forced Uttar Baridhara Club to relegate from the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football crushing them by 5-2 goals in their last league match at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Sunday.
BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy MP handed over the league runners up trophy to Dhaka Abahani after the day' s match.
In the day's match, Brazilian striker Dorielton Gomes made a hattrick for the popular sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani scoring four goals in the18th, 23rd, 40th and 73rd minutes while another Brazilian Raphael Augusto netted other goal in the 58th minute.

Local medio Maruf Ahmed and Uzbek defender S Fozilov scored one each for Uttar Baridhara Club in the 48th and 83rd minutes respectively.
With the day's comfortable victory, Independence and Federation Cup champions Dhaka Abahani Limited completed the league engagements with winning note at the coffin of Uttar Baridhara Club.
Dhaka Abahani, which earler assured the league runners up position with two matches to spare, lost the last match to hattrick champions Bashundhara Kings by 2-3 goals, but made a good finishing on Sunday outplaying Uttar Baridhara.Club.

Uttar Baridhara Club (14 pts) which badly needed a win against giant Dhaka Abahani in the day's match to avoid relegation, failed achieve their tough target and relegated from BPL alongwith newcomers Swadinata KS (10 pts).
Bashundhara Kings earned a rare feat of clinching the hattrick title of BPL Football earlier securing 57 points from 22 matches with 18 win, three draw and one defeat against new comers Swadhinata KS in league opener.
Bashundhara Kings, which were deprived of the season's two major soccer trophies, deprived the Independence Cup and Federation Cup Football champions Dhaka Abahani for winning the triple crown in the season, by clinching the league title comfortably beating Abahani after three matches.
Dhaka Abahani, finished league runners up distantly securing 47 points from all the 22 encounters with 14 win, 5 draw and:3 defeats.
In the day's other match, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC (19 pts) escaped relegation beating 3rd ranked Saif SC (37 pts) by 3-2 goals at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Tetsuaki Misawa, Sudi Sbdullsh and Nawab scored one each for the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha while Mfon snd Sajan scored for Saif SC.

In a battle of pride and glory, newly crowned Bashundhara Kings beat runners-up Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 3-2 goals in the 21st round match of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at a rain soaked ground of the Bashundhara Sports Complex here on Monday.
The match was locked in 1-1 goals in the first half.
The first phase match between two teams ended in a 2-2 draw at the Sylhet District Stadium last April.
In the day's crucial match, Brazilian playmaker cum Kings captain Robson Robinho made the difference between two teams scoring two goals in the later part of the match after Gambian striker Nuha Marong put the Kings ahead in the 20th minute.
Local medio Rakib Hossain and Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored for the traditional sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani, one in each half.

Bashundhara Kings, which earned a rare feat of clinching the hattrick title of BPL Football earlier with two matches to spare, further increased their points tally to 54 points from 21 matches with 17 win, three draw and one defeat against relegation bound and new comers Swadhinata KS in opener.
Dhaka Abahani, which earlier assured league runners up position, also with two matches spare, remained at 44 points from 21 encounters with day's 3rd defeat in the league.
This was the first hattrick title for Bashundhara Kings and the 2nd hattrick title in the BPL history
after Dhaka Abahani, which won the BPL crown for a record six times, including first three times in row in the year 2007, 2008-2009, 2009-2010.
