Fed Cup Football: Brothers Union Club beat Fortis FC by 1-0 goal
Brothers Union Club beat group leader Fortis FC by 1-0 goal in their 3rd Group A match of the Federation Cup Football’ 2024-25 at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Tuesday.
Midfielder Kawar Ali Rabbi scored the match-winning goal for the Goipbagh outfit Brothers Union in the 36th minute of the match.
In the days’ other match, coming from behind, Bangladesh Police FC defeated all-losers Dhaka Wanderers Club by 2-1 goals at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Tuesday.
Defender Mohammad Emon put the Wanderers Club ahead in the 42nd minute from a penalty (1-0) while forward Mannaf Rabbi leveled the margin for Police FC in the 84th minute (1-1)
Another forward Esanur Rahman scored the match-winning goal for Police FC just two minutes later (2-1).
Despite the day’s maiden defeat, Fortis FC dominated the Group A securing seven points from all the four group matches with two wins, one draw and one defeat, defending champions Bashundhara Kings and Brothers Union Club are in the 2nd and 3rd slot respectively securing six points each playing three matches.
With the day’s first win in their 3rd Group A match, Bangladesh Police FC bagged four points from three matches with one win, one draw and one defeat while old horse Dhaka Wanderers Club remained at the bottom with empty hand, also playing three matches.

In the Group B, Rahmatganj MFS and Dhaka Abahani Limited moved into the qualifier stage with two matches to spare securing full six points each from straight two matches eliminating last time runners-up Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool and Chittagong Abahani Limited.
Dhaka Abahani Limited, without any foreign booters, smartly booked seat for qualifiers shocking their traditional rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC beating them by 1-0 goal in titans battle last Tuesday.
Dhaka Mohammedan SC collected three points from three matches to eliminate from the race with one win and two defeats.
Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool earned one point from two matches while Chittagong Abahani Ltd also bagged one point playing three matches.

BPL Football: Dhaka Mohammedan SC maintain all-win record beating Rahmatganj MFS 3-1
Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd maintained their all-win record in the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, beating their nearest rivals Rahmatganj MFS by 3-1 goals in a vital 7th round match at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla Friday afternoon.
With this victory, Mohammedans not only maintained their all-win run as the lone team in the ongoing league but also dominated the league comfortably securing full 21 points from straight seven matches.
After the 2nd defeat in seven matches, the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS further went down in the league race with 15 points while the Gopibagh team Brothers Union are in 3rd slot, bagging 14 points, playing seven matches each.
Last season’s treble winners Bashundhara Kings and six times champions Dhaka Abahani limited are struggling at the 4th and 5th place respectively with 13 points each, playing seven and six matches.
BPL Football: Mohammedan take on Rahmatganj Friday in top of table clash
In the day's match, Midfielder Raju Ahmed Zishan opened the Mohammedan's account in the added time of the first half (45+1 minute).
Mali forward and Mohammedan skipper Souleymane Diabate doubled the black and white margin in the 64th minute (2-0) while Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel scored the 3rd goal for Mohammedan in the 69th minute (3-0).
Ghana booter Samuel Boateng, who scored double hattrick in the last match against Wanderers Club, scored the face-saving goal for Rahmatganj MFS in the 86th minute (3-1).

Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandes, forwards Foysal Ahmed Fahim, Rafiqul Islam and Rakib Hossain scored one goal each for the Kings in the 69th, 72nd, 75th and 83rd minutes respectively while defender Tutul Hossain Badsha netted suicidal goal for the Kings in the very 3rd minute of the match.
Fakirerpool Youngsmen's Club were reduced to 10-men as their defender Tias Das got marching order in the 33rd minute after receiving 2nd yellow card.
In the earlier match of the day, Brothers Union Club advanced to the 3rd slot in the league table toppling Basundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Limited beating Dhaka Wanderers Club by 4-1 goals at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur Friday afternoon.
The Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union took lead in the 17th minute by a suicidal goal by Wanderers defender Emon (1-0), Mahbubur sounded the margin in the 25th minute (2-0), Elita Kingsley scored the 3rd goal in the 88th minute (3-0) while Cheikh Sene sealed the fate of the match in the added time (90+2 minute) (4-0).

The 6th round of BPL Football begins Friday
The sixth-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited and defending champions Bashundhara Kings will play in the sixth round of the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football on Friday (January 3) at two separate venue across the country.
Dhaka Abahani Limited will play Fortis FC at 2:45 pm at the Bashundhara Kings Arena while Bashundhara Kings will encounter Bangladesh Police FC also at 2:45 pm at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
Brothers Union Club will face Youngmen’s Club Fakirerpool in Friday’s other match at 2:45 pm at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
After the 5th round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC Ltd maintained the solo lead in the league table with all-win record securing full 15 points from straight five matches.
Rahmatganj MFS and six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd, without any foreign players, remained at 2nd slot securing 12 points each from five matches. But, in goal differences, Rahmatganj MFS were in the 2nd slot while Dhaka Abahani in the 3rd place.
Brothers Union Club are in the 4th place with eight points while defending champions Bashundhara Kings are struggling at the 5th place with seven points, also playing five matches each.

Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra upset former champions Sheikh Russel KC beating them by 1-0 goal in the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football'2022-23 at the at the Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.
After a barren first half, striker Aminur Rahman Sojib scored the match-winning goal for the freedom fighters' team Muktijoddha in the 62nd minute (1-0)

Defending champions Bashundhara Kings continued their unbeaten run in the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football Saturday after beating Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra 3-1 at the Bashundhara Sports Complex.
Star-studded Kings topped the league table with 21 points from seven straight matches; second-placed Dhaka Abahani earned 15 points from as many encounters.
Sheikh Russell remained in the fifth spot with 12 points from six matches.
After a goalless first half, Brazilian forward Robson Robinho put the Kings ahead in the 65th minute from a penalty (1-0); Uzbek midfielder Asror Gafurov doubled the lead in the 73rd minute (2-0).

Dhaka Abahani beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 2-1 at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Saturday to get their first win in two matches of the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football.
Former champions Dhaka Abahani made a frustrating start to the league after playing out a 1-1 draw with newcomers Fortis SC in their opening match.
In the day's match, Costa Rican player Daniel Colindres put The Sky Blue Brigade ahead in the 10th minute (1-0). Brazilian forward Michael Morais equalised for Old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 60th minute (1-1).
Abahani midfielder Meraj Hossain Opi scored the match-winning goal in the 73rd minute (2-1).
Midfielder Sohel Rana was sent off in the 45th minute, putting The Sky Blue Brigade down to 10 men. Rahmatganj forward Noyan Mia was also sent off in the 63rd minute.
