Ruet student dies drinking ‘excessive liquor’
A student of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) died early Monday in Rajshahi allegedly after drinking excessive liquor. The deceased is Masrur Muhit,a student of Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university and son of Abdul Mannan of Ullapara in Sirajganj.
Masrur was admitted to Ward No. 16 of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital at 8:15 pm on Sunday. Doctors declared him dead around 1:15 pm.

Professor Md Rukunuzzaman of the department said one of the students of our department has died. “I heard that he died after drinking toxic alcohol.” Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station Anwar Hossain Tuhin said, “The cause of the death will be known once we get the autopsy report.” An unnatural death case was filed with Motihar police station, he added.

Dhaka businessman dies from drinking too much liquor
A 35-year-old businessman died Sunday in the capital's Lalbagh after drinking a fatal level of liquor, police said.
Mohammad Ali, the father of two children, was declared dead after being rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency department unconscious, Abdullah Khan, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said.

Citing the doctors, Abdullah said, "Ali died from excessive drinking. His body has been kept in the Dhaka Medical morgue for autopsy."
However, Ali's wife Champa Begum said he fell unconscious in the morning after having breakfast.

Deaths from toxic liquor rising in Bangladesh
At least 16 people died from January 31 to February 5 in Bogura after consuming toxic liquor.
Md Abul Kalam Azad, the officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said: "Eleven people died from drinking toxic liquor in the district and the death toll could increase."

Also, three people from Asiatic-360 died after consuming toxic liquor while on a recreational trip in Gazipur on January 28. Around 10 employees of Asiatic-360 also fell sick and were hospitalised during the period.
At least 30 people died last January after consuming toxic liquor.

1 dead, 2 ill after drinking spurious liquor in Bogura
One person died and two others fell severely ill after drinking toxic alcohol in Bogura’s Gabtali upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam (28), a fishmonger and son of late Sirajul Islam of Madhyapara village in West Mahishaban.
The incident occurred at Madhyapara village of the upazila at around 2am on Saturday.

Police recovered the body of Shahidul and sent it to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The condition of the other two, now under treatment, is said to be severe.

Senior assistant superintendent of police (Gabtali Circle) Sabina Yasmin and officer-in-charge Zia Latiful Islam visited the spot.
The alcohol dealer Dr Bahanul Alam Badal, owner of Beauty Homoeo Hall in Golabari Port was arrested after the incident.

Gabtali Police Station OC Zia Latiful Islam said the allegations of death due to severe toxicity can be confirmed after the medical report comes.
However, the family of the deceased Shahidul Islam said on Saturday afternoon that he had died of a heart attack and not from drinking alcohol.
