Munia murder case: Probe report submission deferred again to Jan 16
A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred to January 16 the submission date of the probe report in a case filed against Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir and seven others over the rape and murder of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara fixed the fresh date as Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) failed to submit the report on the day.

With this, the court deferred the submission of probe report in the case for six times.
On April 26, police recovered the body of the 21-year-old college student hanging from a ceiling fan of her bedroom in a Gulshan flat.
Munia's elder sister, Nusrat Jahan Tania, filed a case against Anvir that night accusing him of incitement to suicide.
According to Tania, her sister, Munia, was in a relationship with Anvir who regularly visited her at the Gulshan apartment.
On July 19, the investigating officer of the case Abul Hasan, also the officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, submitted a final report to the court giving a clean chit to Anvir.
On September 6, Munia's sister Tania filed a rape and murder case against the Bashundhara Group MD Anvir and seven others with Dhaka's 8th Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children's Repression.

The court, after recording the complaint, directed the PBI to submit a report on it.
The seven other accused in the case are: Bashundhara Group's Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Shah Alam, Shah Alam's wife Afroza Begum; Anvir's wife Sabrina Sayem; Faria Mahbub Piyasha; Saifa Rahman Mim; landlord of the flat where the victim was staying, Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon and his wife Sharmim Akhter.

Munia Murder Case: PBI probe report submission deferred again to Dec 8
A Dhaka court on Sunday allowed Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) an extended time until December 8 to submit its investigation report on Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir and seven others accused in a case over the rape and murder of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara set the new deadline of December 8 after PBI failed to submit the report today (Sunday), as it was earlier asked by the same court.
This was the second time PBI investigation officer (IO) of the case Golam Muktar Ashraf Uddin, also an inspector of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), failed to submit the report after the first failure on November 2.

HC rejects Bashundhara MD’s anticipatory bail plea over Munia death case
The High Court on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir in a case filed over rape and murder of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia.
However, the HC granted six weeks' anticipatory bail to Sabrina Sayem, the wife of Anvir in the same case.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol passed the order.
Lawyer Yusuf Hossain Humayun represented the accused petitioners during hearing on the matter.

Chairman of Bashundhara Group Ahmed Akbar Sobhan alias Shah Alam and six others were also made accused in the case on charge of abetting the crime.
Tribunal judge Mafroza Parveen reviewed the case filed before the court by Nusrat Jahan Tania, sister of Munia, and asked Police Bureau of Investigation to probe the case.

Munia rape and murder case: Bashundhara MD seeks anticipatory bail
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir submitted a petition to the High Court on Thursday seeking anticipatory bail in a case over the rape and murder of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia in April this year.
HC bench of Justice Msotafa Zaman Islam and KM Zahid Sarwar will hear the bail petition on September 29.

A rape and murder case was filed on Monday against Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and seven others over the death of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia in her Gulshan apartment in April this year.
The seven other accused are: Bashundhara Group's Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Shah Alam, Shah Alam's wife Afroza Begum; Anvir's wife Sabrina Sayem; Faria Mahbub Piyasha; Saifa Rahman Mim; landlord of the flat where the victim was staying, Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon and his wife Sharmim Akhter.
Munia's sister Nusrat Jahan Tania filed the case with Dhaka's 8th Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children's Repression.

Judge Mafroza Parvin recorded the statement of the complainant. After the hearing, the judge directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report on it within seven working days.
Earlier on August 19, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury relieved Anvir of the charge of incitement to suicide of the college student.
On July 19, the investigating officer of the case, Gulshan Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Hasan, submitted a final report to the court giving a clean chit to Anvir.
Anvir was not found culpable in the suicide incitement case of Munia in the final report submitted by the investigating officer and asked for his name to be dropped.

Dhaka court imposes travel ban on Bashundhara MD over abetting suicide
A Dhaka court issued a travel ban on Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir today over his alleged connection with a case filed over abetting suicide of a young girl whose body was recovered from a rented flat in Dhaka's Gulshan area last night.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahidul Islam passed the order after Abul Hassan, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a petition seeking travel ban on the Bashundhara Group MD.
Although it was granted, there were unconfirmed reports circulating Tuesday of Sobhan having left the country already on a cargo flight.

Police recovered the hanging body of a young girl from a flat in the city's Gulshan area on Monday (April 26, 2021) night.
A case was filed by the victim’s sister Nusrat Jahan against Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of Bashundhara Group over instigating the victim to commit suicide under section 306 of Bangladesh Penal Code with Gulshan Police Station around 1:30 am on Tuesday (April 27, 2021).
According to Nusrat, the victim called her on Sunday, and confided to being "in trouble". On that basis, Nusrat Jahan came to Dhaka on Monday and reached her sister's flat in the evening.
After Musharrat didn't answer the door, she managed to enter the flat with help from the landlord and found her sister's hanging body and police were called in, who recovered it.
