Independence Cup: Rahmatganj MFS advance to semis eliminating Police FC
Two quick goals by Ghana striker Samuel helped Rahmatganj MFS to reach the semifinal of the season's curtain raiser soccer meet, the Independence Cup Football ' 2023 as the first team eliminating Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1:goals in the first quarterfinal at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here on Sunday.
They will play the first semifinal on December 15 at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj against the winners of Dhaka Mohammedan and Chittagaong Abahani, who will meet each other in the 3rd quarterfinal on Tuesday (Dec 5) at Bir Shreshtha Fl Lt Shaheed Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

In the day's first quarterfinal, Colombian forward Edis Horacio put the Police FC ahead in the 24th minute from a penalty (1-0).
But, Ghana forward Samuel assured the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj's victory, scoring two quick goals in a span of only two minutes (29th and 31st minute).
Samuel levelled the margin in the 29th minute by a nice volley from the danger zone (1-1) while he scored the match- winner just two minutes later by a push from close, off a Susanta Tripura's free kick (2-1).
Independence Cup Football: Quarterfinals begin Sunday
Meanwhile, Group B champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd played against Group A runners-up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the 2nd quarterfinal also at the Bashundhara Kings Arena Sunday evening.
After a recess on Monday, Dhaka Mohammedan SC, the champions of Group C, will encounter Group D runners-up Chittagong Abahani Limited in the 3rd quarterfinal on Tuesday (December 5) at 1:45 pm at the Bir Shreshtha Fl Lt Shaheed Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Star-studded Bashundhara Kings, the champions of Group D will play Group C runners- up Bangladesh Army Football team in the 4th and last quarterfinal, also on Tuesday at 4 pm at their home ground -- Bashundhara Kings Arena--in the capital.
The two semifinals will be held ten days later after the Bashundhara Kings vital AFC Cup Football match against Indian giant Odisha FC, billed for December 11 at Kalindi Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Women's Football: Bangladesh too hot to handle for Singapore
The first semifinal will be held on December 15 at 1:45 pm at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj while the 2nd semifinal will also be held on the same day (Dec 15) at 4 pm at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city.
The title deciding final match will commence on December 18 at 1:45 pm at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

BFF-18 Football League: Dhaka Abahani beat Rahmatganj MFS by 2-0 goal
Dhaka Abahani Ltd earned a 2-0 goal victory over Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in the BFF U-18 Football League at the Govt. Physical Education College ground here on Saturday.
Sayeed put the Abahani Youth team ahead in the 18th minute while Mashrafi sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal in the 59th minute.
In the BFF U-16 Football league, Kawran Bazar Pragoti Sangha outplayed Farashganj SC by 6-0 goals here on Saturday.
Arif and Aslam scored two goals each while Saifur netted one for the winners.
Abu Sayeed of Farashganj SC scored a suicidal goal enabling Pragoti Sangha to earn a comfortable 6-0 goal victory.
In the day's other U-16 Football match, Fotis Football Club beat Gopalganj Sporting Club by 2-0 goal. Monirul scored first in the stoppage time of the first half (45+1 minute) while Jumo scored the 2nd goal in the stoppage time of the match (90+3 minute) for the winners.
In the Bashundhara Group 2nd Division Football League, Saif Sporting Club Youth team defeated Kingstar Sporting Club by 2-0 goal with Nazmul Islam Khokon scoring both the goals.
In the day's other 2nd Division League, Gouripur Sporting Club beat Bikrampur Kings by a solitary goal scored by Al Amin Howladar in the 64th minute.

BPL Football: Rahmatganj MFS gain first victory; Police FC earn 2nd win beating Muktikoddha
Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society secured the first victory in their 6th match of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football' 2021-22 outplaying Uttar Baridhara Club by 3-1 goals at the Sylhet District Stadium on Wednesday. With the day's well merited victory, Rahmatganj advanced to 9th slot from bottom securing four points from six matches by better goal differences while Uttar Baridhara Club went down to 10th slot, also collecting four points from six encounters.

Fed Cup Football: Dhaka Abahani clinch season’s 2nd consecutive trophy
Dhaka Abahani Ltd maintained their supremacy by clinching their 2nd consecutive trophy of the season, the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup Football title, beating surprising finalist Rahmatganj MFS by 2-1 goals in the final at the Bir Shreshta Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur here on Sunday.
Abahani will now represent Bangladesh in the next AFC Cup.

Independence Cup champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Rahmatganj MFS reached the final of the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup Football Tournament eliminating Saif SC and Dhaka Mohammedan in the semifinals at the Bir Shreshta Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Thursday.
Eleven-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited eliminated last year’s finalists Saif Sporting Club by 4-3 goals in tie breaker as the 2nd semifinal match was locked in 2-2 goals in the regulation time and also ended in 3-3 goals in the extras time Thursday night.
The old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS, coming from behind booked a seat for the final for the 2nd occasions shocking 10 times champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 2-1 goals in the first semifinal Thursday afternoon.
The two teams will play final on Sunday (Jan 9) at the same venue.
