Rain, thundershowers likely in Dhaka, 5 other divisions
Dhaka and five other divisions may experience rain or thundershowers in 24 hours from 9 am on Wednesday (May 24, 2023).
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with hails at isolated places over the country, said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, and Madaripur and it may abate from some places, it read. Day and Night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Wind direction and speed at Dhaka were recorded as 10-15 kph East/southeasterly, with temporary gusting to 30-40 kph.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday in Khulna and the lowest temperature was recorded in Tetulia at 20.2 degrees Celsius.

Rains likely in Dhaka, other divisions
Different parts of the country including Dhaka will experience rains or thunder showers in parts of the country in 24 hours from 9am on Saturday (May 20, 2023).
“Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with hails at isolated places over the country,” said a regular bulletin of Met office.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Chuadanga and Jashore and it may continue.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the
country.
Besides, a trough of westerly low over West Bengal and adjoining area.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 36.9 degrees Celsius in Mongla of Khulna district on Friday (May 19, 2023) while the lowest temperature was recorded at 19.8 degrees Celsius in Mymensingh district on Saturday.

Maritime ports asked to hoist cyclone warning signal 3
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra in Bangladesh have been advised to hoist at the mast local cautionary signage to alert vessels of a possible squall.
The weather office's advisory for cautionary signal number three -- which means that a depression has formed and may affect the port later -- comes in the wake of the well-marked low over the southwestern part of Bangladesh and adjoining areas lying over the western part of Bangladesh and the adjoining Indian state of West Bengal.

“Under its influence, deep convection is taking place and a steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay and adjoining areas,” said a Met office bulletin.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it added.
"All boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice."
According to the daily weather bulletin, light to moderate rainfall or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind may occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Similarly, many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall, as per the bulletin.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Mild heat weave sweeps parts of country
A mild heat wave is sweeping Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions, said Bangladesh Metrology Department (BMD).
Besides, mild heat waves are also sweeping the regions of Rangamati, Chandpur, Maizdicourt and Sayedpur and it may continue, said the Met office in its regular bulletin on Sunday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur and Chattogram, divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.

Weather may remain mainly dry elsewhere over the country.
In a regular forecast, it said the day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum temperature of the country was recorded at 38.0 degrees Celsius in Jashore on Sunday.
