Malaysia pushes for solution to climate issues
Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Chair of ASEAN Dhaka Committee (ADC) Haznah Md Hashim has highlighted the critical role of governments towards finding a sustainable solution to the climate change issues.
She said climate issues have a tremendous effect on countries all over the world, particularly those from the emerging economies.
"Therefore, a collective effort, in not just ASEAN but also countries like Bangladesh, is needed to ensure governments meet its obligation under the Paris Agreement," said the High Commissioner.
She was addressing a webinar on "Climate Change" on Thursday initiated by the High Commission of Malaysia to explore ideas and views as well as sharing of best practices on climate change.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Malaysia (KASA) Dr Zaini Ujang and Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh, Md Mostafa Kamal were present as the chief guests.
Haji Haris Haji Othman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; Aung Kyaw Moe, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; Pham Viet Chien, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam; Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand; Hidayat Atjeh, Chargé d' Affaires of the Republic of Indonesia; Leo Marco C Vidal, Chargé d' Affaires of the Republic of the Philippines; Sheela Pillai, Head of Mission of the Singapore Consulate; senior officials, diplomats and experts from Bangladesh and ASEAN Member States.
The ADC was established in the year 2014 and is comprised of eight ASEAN Missions based in Dhaka.

They are the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, High Commission of Malaysia, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Embassy of Republic of the Philippines, Consulate of the Republic of Singapore, Embassy of the Royal Thai Embassy, and Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
The ADC chair is rotated every six months and is currently being chaired by Malaysia.

Probe committee to investigate Saklain-Pori 'affair'
A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the "affair" between Golam Saklain Shithil, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Detective Branch (DB), and Dhallywood actress Pori Moni.
The Police Headquarters confirmed this to UNB Sunday night.
Police Headquarters Additional Deputy Inspector General (Training) Mia Masud Karim will lead the committee. The two other members are Hamida Parveen, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Women Support and Investigation Centre, and Rumana Akter, special superintendent (forensic) of the Criminal Investigation Division.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days.
Saklain was introduced to Pori Moni in June this year when he was a supervising officer of a case filed with Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood.

Nasir was arrested by DB on June 15 from Uttara over a case filed with Savar Police Station by Pori Moni for an alleged attempt to rape and murder her.
According to media reports, Saklain had been maintaining a relationship with Pori Moni secretly.
But the matter came to light when members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni from her Banani flat on August 4.
They seized foreign liquor and narcotics from there. Later, a case was filed with Banani Police station against her the following day.

CCTV footage, which was leaked recently, showed that Pori Moni went to the official flat of Saklain in Rajarbagh police officers' residential area on the morning of August 1 and came out after around 18 hours.
Several media ran reports about their alleged relationship on Friday.
Following the reports, ADC Saklain was relieved from his duty as ADC DB Gulshan Division on Saturday morning and was transferred to the Public Order Management West in the afternoon.

Pori Moni ‘affair’: Now police officer Sakline faces the music
Gulam Sakline Sithil, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Detective Branch under DMP, has been transferred to the West Division of Public Order Management (POM) for his alleged relationship with arrested film actress Pori Moni.
Gulam Sakline, ADC (DB-Gulshan), was introduced with Pori Moni in June this year when he was a supervising officer of a case filed with Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood.
Nasir Uddin was arrested by DB police on June 15 from Uttara over a case filed with Savar Police Station by actress Pori Moni for alleged attempt to rape and murder her.
According to media reports, Sakline had been maintaining a relationship with Pori Moni secretly.
But the matter came to light when members of elite force Rab detained Pori Moni from her Banani flat on Wednesday night.
