Mohib Ullah murder: Killing squad member Azizul “confesses to involvement”
Azizul Haque, arrested on Saturday morning over the killing of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah, confessed to his direct involvement in the murder before a court in Cox’s Bazar.
Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Jerin Sultana recorded his statement for two hours. He was later sent to jail.
Tipped off, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) members arrested Azizul from a camp in Ukhia and they arrested three other Rohingyas acting on his statement.
Commander of APBn-14 SP Naimul Haque briefed the media about his arrest.
SP Naimul said the miscreants held their last meeting at Markaj hill in the camp two days before the murder.

Nine people, including five armed members, were asked to complete the mission that day, which they completed within just two minutes, he said.

Mohib Ullah murder: 2 placed on 3-day remand
A Cox’s Bazar court on Sunday placed two people on a three-day remand in a case over the killing Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah.
Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order in the morning.

Those remanded are—Mohamamd Selim alias Lamba Selim and Shawkat Ullah.
Earlier on Saturday, police produced them before the judge with a 7-day remand prayer, said court inspector Chandan Kumar Chakrawarty.
Four suspects have so far been arrested in connection with Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah’s murder at Lambashia camp-1 in Ukhiya.
Shawkat was arrested on Saturday afternoon from a Kutupalong Rohingya camp, said officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station Sanjur Morshed.

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) personnel arrested Ziaur and Salam on Friday from Kutupalong camps and Selim on Friday noon from Kutupalong camp-6.
SP Naimul Haque, commander of the 14th APBn, said the three arrestees were later handed over to Ukhiya police station.
On Thursday night, police registered a murder case over Mohib Ullah’s murder following a complaint from Mohib Ullah’s brother Habib Ullah, said officer-in-charge Sanjur Morshed.

Unknown assailants gunned down Mohib on Wednesday night.
He was buried in Lambashia camp-1 in Ukhiya upazila on Thursday afternoon after his namaz-e-janaza, which was attended by a large number of Rohingya refugees from camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas.
Formerly a teacher in Myanmar, the slain activist was popularly known as Master Mohib Ullah among the Rohingya refugees. He was the head of Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH) at Kutupalong camp.

ARSA 'saddened' by Mohib's death
Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) said it was shocked and saddened by the killing of civil leader Mohib Ullah by assailants in a refugee camp in Bangladesh.
Also, the group demanded accountability for the killing of Mohib.
"It is time for bringing the criminals to account instead of finger-pointing with baseless and hearsay accusations," ARSA said Friday in a statement, blaming the shooting on "transnational border-based criminals."

Mohib, who was chair of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, was shot dead Wednesday by unknown gunmen in the Kutupalong refugee camp of Cox's Bazar.
He led one of the largest of several community groups to emerge since more than 7 lakh Rohingya people fled Myanmar after a military crackdown in August 2017.

Mohib's killing, Rohingya repatriation: Bachelet for redoubling global pressure on Myanmar
Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah's killing should be a clarion call to the international community to redouble its pressure on Myanmar to recognise the Rohingya and accept their return to their homes in Rakhine State, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said Friday.
She also emphasised the international community's role to pursue accountability for the terrible crimes committed against them.
Bachelet expressed her shock and sadness over the killing of Rohingya human rights defender Mohib Ullah and called for a prompt, thorough and effective investigation into his death.
"It is heartbreaking that a person who spent his life fighting to ensure that the violations committed against the Rohingya people were known worldwide has been murdered in this way," she said.
