RAB arrests ARSA ‘second-in-command’, 2 members from Rohungya camp
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) including its second-in-command from a Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday midnight.
The arrestees are its second-in-command Abu Hashim 31, Hossain Johar alias Ali Johar 32, and Md Alam alias Shayer Musa 35.

RAB-15 Commanding Officer Lt Col HS Sazzad Hossain disclosed the information at a press briefing in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

The RAB official said that on Sunday night, in the 20th extension Rohingya camp of Ukhiya, a young man named Md Asadullah was shot and hacked to death by 10 to 15 unidentified miscreants.
Following the incident, RAB-15 started their operation to arrest those involved in the murder.

Fires in Rohingya camp: 3 ARSA members arrested with firearms
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) for their alleged involvement in the fire incidents in Rohingya refugee camps.
The arrestees are Usman Prakash Magbagi Usman, 30, Md. Nechhar, 33, and Imam Hossain, 22. They all live in Cox's Bazar's refugee camp at Ukhiya.

RAB arrests two including top ARSA commander from Ukhiya
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), including a top commander involved in the murder of a DGFI official.
They were arrested on Thursday (October 26) during a raid in the hilly areas adjacent to the Rohingya camp at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar, said RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion Assistant Director (Legal and Media) Additional Superintendent of Police Md Abu Salam Chowdhury.

The arrestees were identified as Md Osman Prakash Salman Murobbi, 50, head of ARSA's Ulama Body and Torture Cell and Md Yunus, 24, torture cell member of the organisation.
During the raid, RAB found a secret torture cell operated by ARSA in the hills adjacent to Madhurchara Jame Mosque in Ward No. 6 of Rajapalang Union of Ukhiya.

One of the arrestees, Md Osman, was allegedly involved in the murder of a DGFI official during a joint anti-drug operation and was absconding.
He was also involved in multiple murders in the area adjacent to the Rohingya camp, the RAB official said.

In a press release issued last night, Abu Salam Chowdhury said that after receiving a tip-off, RAB raided the deep mountainous area adjacent to the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.

RAB arrests ARSA ‘military commander’ in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the “military commander” of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Hafez Nur Mohammad, 32.

Joint operation to prevent crime, violence in Rohingya camps soon: Home Minister
Bangladesh's Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said a joint operation will be conducted very soon to seize arms and drugs and to prevent terrorist activities in the Rohingya camps.
If necessary, the army will also be involved in this operation, he said.
The minister made the remarks while talking to reporters after attending a meeting of the National committee for coordinating, managing and maintaining law and order of Rohingyas at the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 23, 2023).

Highlighting the decision of the national committee on coordination, management and law and order of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals displaced, the minister said: "There is an increasing trend of violence in the Rohingya refugee camps. Terrorist activities are on the rise. In light of this, it was decided in the meeting to increase law enforcement patrols, checkpoints, and intelligence surveillance to stop Rohingya miscreants from committing acts of violence within the camp.”
Asaduzzaman Khan said the authorities will conduct a joint operation – based on intelligence – to prevent members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Arakan Army (AA) from entering the camps.

"We have set up barbed wire fences and watchtowers to prevent Rohingyas from leaving the camp, and we conduct regular patrols," he said. “The security measures will be strengthened further so that they cannot escape. Members of law enforcement agencies are on high alert.”
Asked whether the army will be involved in the joint operation, the minister said, "If necessary, we will call the army."
“We will not allow drug trade. We will make sure that there is no more bloodshed.”
Meanwhile, the home minister said the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be instructed to stay on high alert on the border to prevent anymore Myanmar nationals from entering the country.

Among other things, discussions were held to speed the diplomatic efforts to send Rohingyas back to Myanmar. Various issues including rohingya health, birth control were also addressed at the meeting.
The home minister said, "The decision to repatriate the Rohingyas is still active. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on it. We hope (repatriation process) it will continue. ’
When asked about the Rohingyas who are hesitant to go back to Myanmar, he said, "It’ll pass. How long will we keep them? We want them to go back to their country.”
The Home Minister said the registration process of Bangladeshi fishermen fishing in the Naf River is ongoing.

4 ARSA operatives held with huge cache of arms in Cox’s Bazar
Armed Police Battalion (APBN) detained four members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) with a huge amount of arms and ammos in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.
The detainees, identified as Md Jobayer, 20, Nur Mohammad, 25, Jamila Begum, 48 and Bibi, 16, are residents of different blocks of the Rohingya camps in the upazila.
According to an APBN media release signed by Syed Harunur Rashid, commander of 14-APBN, the battalion conducted a drive at block G in camp No.7 on information that 10 to 15 ARSA members including terrorist Chhamiuddin were staying there.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the miscreants allegedly opened fire on the APBN members forcing them to retaliate with bullets, it said, adding that a terrorist sustained bullet injuries in the incident.
As a consequence of the gunfight, the APBN members also conducted another drive at block C in camp No.5 when they came to know that the ARSA operatives including Chhamiuddin were staying there.
Though terrorists including Chhamiuddin managed to flee the scene , sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the four people including the bullet-hit one were detained with the arms.
Four locally-made one-shooter guns, 30 rounds of bullets of Chinese rifle, 27 rounds of pistol bullets, five cartridges of shotgun, three blank magazines, four walkie talkies, five mobile phone sets and one knife were recovered from the house, according to the APBN.
A process was underway to file a case against them in this connection at the local police station, it added.

6 ARSA members arrested in Cox’s Bazar
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested six suspected members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) from Moynarghona Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar.
The arrestees are- ARSA members Mohammad Arab, 24, Mohammad Nuru, 31, Mohammad Yunus, 33, Mohammad Harun, 28, Hamid Hossain, 22, and Hafizul Amin, 25.
Md Abu Salam Chowdhury, senior assistant director (Legal and Media) of Rab-15, said that a Rab team conducted a drive and arrested the six, being tipped-off that some Arsa members, equipped with weapons, took position near Rohingya Abul Foyez stall of Moynarghona Rohingya camp.
A locally made one-shooter gun and three bullets were recovered during the operation, he said.

Myanmar claims mortar shells fired by Arakan Army, ARSA on its border forces landed in Bangladesh
Myanmar has claimed that the Arakan Army and terrorist group ARSA used the same weapons and attacked the Taungpyo (Right) Border Guard Police Outpost at BP-34 on September 16 and 17, 2022 when nine mortar shells landed on Bangladeshi soil.
Zaw Phyo Win, Director-General of Strategic Studies and Training Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar met Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon on Monday.
The director-general claimed that Arakan Army and terrorist group ARSA have been deliberately carrying out such attacks to cause “negative consequences” on the existing “cordial bilateral relations” between Bangladesh and Myanmar, according to the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said Myanmar will cooperate with Bangladesh to maintain peace in the border areas and stressed the significance of full and reciprocal cooperation from the Bangladesh side.
The director-general stated that while taking the necessary security measures close to the border with utmost caution, the Myanmar side always abides by bilateral agreements and international norms as well as respects the integrity and sovereignty of all nations, including Bangladesh.
He recalled that on September 7, 2022, the Bangladeshi side was notified of the information of the trenches and bases of the AA and ARSA terrorists located “inside Bangladesh” through diplomatic channel and reiterated Myanmar’s call to take necessary and immediate actions to investigate on the ground and dismantle those structures and bases.

Later, he handed over a non-paper containing the Myanmar version of the incidents to the Bangladesh ambassador.
During the meeting, the director-general clarified the prevailing on-the-ground situations regarding the firing incidents near Myanmar-Bangladesh border in response to issues raised by the Bangladesh side at the meetings between Myanmar ambassador to Bangladesh and director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
The director-general apprised that AA and terrorist group ARSA attacked the Taungpyo (Left) Border Guard Police Outpost at BP-31 with mortars on September 16, 2022 when three mortar shells landed inside Bangladesh territory.

ARSA 'saddened' by Mohib's death
Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) said it was shocked and saddened by the killing of civil leader Mohib Ullah by assailants in a refugee camp in Bangladesh.
Also, the group demanded accountability for the killing of Mohib.
"It is time for bringing the criminals to account instead of finger-pointing with baseless and hearsay accusations," ARSA said Friday in a statement, blaming the shooting on "transnational border-based criminals."

Mohib, who was chair of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, was shot dead Wednesday by unknown gunmen in the Kutupalong refugee camp of Cox's Bazar.
He led one of the largest of several community groups to emerge since more than 7 lakh Rohingya people fled Myanmar after a military crackdown in August 2017.
