Why does Ireland Choose England as A Venue to Host Bangladesh?
This series against Bangladesh is very important for Ireland for the 2023 World Cup. If the Ireland cricket team can beat Bangladesh by 3-0, then they will get a chance to play the ODI World Cup 2023 directly. Otherwise, they will have to win the qualifier against Zimbabwe to participate in the World Cup.
And since it’s the rainy season in Ireland, they don’t want the weather to interrupt the game. According to the Cricinfo report, there is a high risk of rain in Ireland in May, and the “English Summer” has been renowned for rainless seasons for ages. That’s why Ireland wants to play in England so that no games get spoiled due to rain. Besides, the Ireland team may believe that matches played in England are more likely to get good results for them.

Ireland is in the 11th position in the Super League with 68 points from 21 matches. Sri Lanka is 10th with 81 points in 24 matches, South Africa is 9th with 98 points in 21 matches, and West Indies is eighth with 88 points in 24 matches. However, West Indies have no more matches left in the Super League.
South Africa had 79 points at the end of the England series recently. But in the last ODI, they deducted a point due to their slow-over rate. It opens the door to new possibilities for Ireland.
According to the calculation, if Ireland beats Bangladesh 3-0, they will also have 98 points. Then the team that will be ahead in run rate will get the opportunity to play the World Cup directly. Currently, South Africa (-0.077) is ahead of Ireland (-0.382) in run rate. So, Ireland will surely try their best to fulfill their plan.

So, in terms of head-to-head record in ODIs, Bangladesh has a dominant 9-2 lead against Ireland. However, Ireland emerged victorious in their first-ever encounter during the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Final Words
The upcoming Bangladesh tour of Ireland will be a very important series for Ireland as a 3-0 win may lead them to play the World Cup 2023 directly. The Bangladeshis living in the UK will get a chance to watch Bangladesh’s match live on the field after a long time. Preview of Bangladesh vs Ireland Series 2023
The Ireland cricket team arrived in Bangladesh on March 12 to play the first full bilateral series against the Tigers. This will be a 27-day long tour for the Ireland cricket team. After landing at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the Ireland team went directly to Sylhet. The Irish will play a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Sylhet.
While Ireland has played plenty of ODIs and T20I, they have not had the opportunity to play the test format for a long time. Played only 3 Tests in the last five years after receiving Test status. The last match was played in 2019. By that time, the teams were introduced to the aggressive mentality in Test cricket. The Irish also want to play the same style of cricket.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh team will go to Sylhet after the last T20 match against England on March 14. Previously Bangladesh team met Ireland 11 times in ODI and won seven of them, while two matches ended with no result.
Changes Bangladesh Squad
After the third ODI against England in Chittagong, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon has suggested that resting a few cricketers in the upcoming Ireland series could provide a chance for some of the freshers. This statement sparked a debate on which cricketers might be included in the rest list. Eventually, the names are revealed.

BCB revealed the ODI squad for the forthcoming Ireland series in the absence of experienced national all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad. Recently, this experienced cricketer has been a concern due to his poor performance with the bat, along with his lack of fitness. Questions have been raised about what lies ahead for him after he was eliminated from the Ireland series. On Sunday, March 12, BCB revealed the selection of the 15 players who will take part in the first two One Day Internationals.
Taijul Islam is also not included in the announced 15-member team. Taijul played well in the ODI series against England, yet his absence from the team remains a mystery. The new face in the team is cricketer Zakir Hasan, the keeper-batsman who made his T20 and ODI debut for Bangladesh and has now been called up to the ODI squad. Apart from these two changes, there are no surprises in the ODI squad led by Tamim Iqbal. Additionally, Yasir Ali Chowdhury and Shoriful Islam are back.
Meanwhile, this season of IPL will start on March 31, when Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, and Mustafizur Rahman were selected from Bangladesh. The Test match against Ireland will start on April 4 and end on April 8. So, it is not clear yet if they will play the test.

The major change in the announced team is the absence of Joshua Little in T20. The 23-year-old left-hander took the second-highest wickets in T20 Internationals in 2022 with 39 wickets. Got a place in the ICC T20 XI of the year. Little will only be in the ODI series on the tour of Bangladesh. He has got teams in Pakistan's PSL and India's IPL. In addition to that, the most recent T20 series win against England will also boost the team’s confidence. So, Ireland's tour in Bangladesh is going to be a challenge for Ireland. After seven years, the whole world saw the roar of the Tigers against the superpower of cricket, India. And, now Bangladeshi fans can expect the same against England as the English are not getting all the regular players due to the New Zealand series.
At least 15 of England’s regular players are missing from the tour. England will play a two-match Test series against New Zealand from February 16. The series will end on February 28. So, the chances of not getting a player from there are high.

Missing Players in England
Apart from the New Zealand series, the English cricket team will also miss some players due to injury and franchise cricket. Franchise cricket has become a major problem for the English selectors in announcing the team beyond the New Zealand series. Several cricketers of the team are contracted for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which starts on February 13.
Stars like Alex Hales, Sam Billings, James Vince, and Liam Dawson are not on the team due to the emphasis on franchise cricket. They have informed us that they are not staying on the Bangladesh tour. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone will be rested due to injury. Captain Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jason Roy, and Adil Rashid are coming to the Bangladesh tour. Even Mark Wood can return to the team.
Team
Although Bangladesh is yet to announce the squad, England has already announced the team for both T20 and ODI.
England has called up Tom Abell of Somerset, who has not yet been capped, for their limited-overs squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Abell, who will be the captain of the England Lions one-day side against Sri Lanka, also featured in the SA20 in South Africa recently. The teenage leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has been given a maiden call-up to the white-ball squads due to his impressive performance in his Test debut at Karachi last December, where he took seven wickets at an average of 19.57.
Saqib Mahmood, a bowler from England, was given a chance to return to the ODI squad after playing in the Test side against West Indies in the past year. The player from Lancashire has obtained 14 ODI wickets with an average of 19.92.
Jofra Archer was also included in both T20 and ODI teams who just made a comeback against South Africa. On the other hand, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, and Olly Stone have been omitted from the squad as they will be occupied for the test series against New Zealand. Surprisingly Alex Hales was not included in the team. Alex Hales was the second-highest run-scorer for England at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, falling just behind Jos Buttler. However, Ben Duckett and Will Jacks will be featured in the T20 squad.

England is Yet to Get a Broadcasting Partner
However, before the start of the series, it was feared that this series might not be seen in England. Because so far, no broadcaster in England has shown interest in buying the TV rights. Earlier in August 2021, no Australian broadcaster had shown the Bangladesh series during the Australian cricket team’s tour of Bangladesh. The Tigers won that series against the Aussies by 4-1. It seems this time, the broadcasters in England are also walking the same path.
According to a report in England’s Telegraph newspaper, so far, no television or radio in England has bought the broadcast rights of the Bangladesh series tour. In the end, if no organization comes forward, England cricket fans may not be able to watch the live games on their TV. In that case, fans may have to rely on streaming sites or the internet.
However, according to the Telegraph, the TV rights may eventually be bought by companies such as Sky Sports and TalkSport. Companies are leaning towards buying rights at a lower price.

Final Words
This series was supposed to take place in September 2021. However, it was postponed as the English Cricketers wanted to play in the IPL, which was taking place in the United Arab Emirates. And eventually, there was no hope of taking place in this long-desired series. But the good thing is that Bangladesh vs English series 2023 is taking place, and it will be a great competitive event for both teams.

Qatar World Cup's tight schedule worries players, clubs
There has never been a World Cup match schedule like this one.
The first World Cup ever played in November and December — to avoid Qatar’s desert heat — is just the starting point for other unique features.
For players and fans in Qatar, and viewers worldwide, the games come around early and often on a more intense schedule than any previous group stage. Four separate kickoff time slots are needed to make this tournament work, though they were used on the first Saturday of previous tournaments.
In Qatar, there will be back-to-back-to-back-to-back games for seven straight days to squeeze this World Cup into only 29 days.
That’s three total days fewer than were used to play the 2018 tournament in Russia and the 2014 edition in Brazil.
A 32-day tournament using five full weekends wasn’t available this time because of the deal FIFA had to strike with European leagues and clubs in 2015 to drop the World Cup into the middle of their domestic season.
The European Leagues group had warned of “very severe damage” being done to its members’ sporting and financial interests by shutting them down for at least six weeks.
While storied clubs and stars like Erling Haaland take an extended break or head to training camps, World Cup players have an intense time ahead.
Teams in Groups G and H, like Brazil and Portugal, have the fewest possible rest days. To win the title, they will have to play seven games in only 25 days. The World Cup doesn’t even pause between the group stage and the round of 16.
“This will be a very tiring tournament, and it’s true we start later,” Portugal coach Fernando Santos said after the draw on April 1.
“The only advantage I see is starting on the 24th,” he said, noting that teams which play on Nov. 21 — England, Netherlands, United States — have fewer days to prepare.
Santos, who wants those extra pre-tournament days for practice, pointed to the dilemma facing most of the 32 coaches at a World Cup where typically 75% of selected players are employed by European clubs.
European domestic leagues were mostly playing games right up to Sunday on the last day before players had been mandated by FIFA to be with their national teams.
That leaves only one week of official preparation time instead of at least two weeks before a normal World Cup.
In the Premier League on Sunday, Ecuador players Moisés Caicedo and Pervis Estupiñán were on the field for Brighton exactly one week before their national team opens the World Cup against Qatar.
When the clock in Doha ticked past midnight into Monday — FIFA’s Nov. 14 deadline for players to be on national-team duty — squad members from Argentina, Brazil, France, Poland and Serbia were still on the field in Italy, where the Juventus-Lazio game finished close to 11 p.m. local time.
“We don’t have time to prepare the team, just seven days,” Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić said in April. “It will not be easy for us.”
There was no perfect solution when FIFA confirmed the inevitable switch of dates in 2015, accepting the World Cup could not be played or organized in June, when temperatures in Qatar reach 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit).

Seven years ago, the favored European option of a January 2022 tournament was dismissed by FIFA’s then-leaders because of a direct clash with the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
“It is, of course, not an ideal situation to play in November and December,” then-UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino (now FIFA president) said in March 2015, “and we would have preferred to play in January because it would have had less of an impact.”
Still, the agreement to play in November and December did create a five-month delay that proved essential when the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc with international soccer. Nearly all World Cup qualifying games scheduled in 2020 were postponed.
When it came to finalizing World Cup dates, one red line was ensuring the Premier League would have its traditional Dec. 26 games.
The happy solution for Qatar was staging a four-week tournament with a traditional and auspicious Sunday final — the emirate’s National Day on Dec. 18
