Youth should model themselves on Kholiquzzaman: Hasan
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud Wednesday said the life and works of economist Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad should be an example for the youth and the new generation.
He said at the age of 82, Kholiquzzaman is still working for long hours on research, social welfare, and for Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) while taking care of his family and personal responsibilities.
Hasan was speaking as the chief guest at a book publication ceremony on Kholiquzzaman, chair of PKSF, organised by the Entrepreneurial Economists Club of Dhaka School of Economics (DScE), at the Dhaka Reporters Unity.
The book was published by Pollok Publishers.
The speakers of the programme discussed the achievements of Kholiquzzamn – including helping cut poverty, creating job opportunities for youth and rural people, and facilitating education and skills-based teaching.
At the programme, Kholiquzzamn, also chair (GC) of DScE, said no one in the country should be left out of the stream of development for which inclusive growth is important.

Professor Muhammad Mahboob Ali, former vice-chancellor of Presidency University, Shafi Ahmad, former professor of Jahangirnagar University's English department, Nilufar Banu, executive director of Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad, Professor Shaikh Ekramul Kabir, head of administration and academic affairs at DScE, Md Jamal Hossain, director of Bastob, Prothom Alo Joint Editor Sohrab Hasan, Forkan Ahmad, owner of Pallok publisher and one of the editors of the book, were present.
Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, an independent director of Bank Asia, Moazzem Hossain; DScE faculties Rehana Parvin, Sara Tasneem and Shamim Ahmad, and Entrepreneurial Economists Club Club General Secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman, also attended the event.

Dhaka School of Economics works to create youth entrepreneurship, employment: Kholiquzzaman
Prominent economist Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said youth have to lead the fourth industrial revolution in the country, through creating entrepreneurship and employment.
The youths have the ability of taking risk for investment as well as entrepreneurship creation, they will be job providers rather than job seekers in the next decade, he said.
Kholiquzzaman said this while speaking as the chief guest at prize awarding ceremony of indoor games competition among Dhaka University affiliated colleges on Saturday.
The entrepreneurship economics club of Dhaka School of Economics organized the event.
Sports editor of news24 television Dilu Khondkar, former national football team player Abdul Gaffar, former cricketer of national cricket team Sanowar Hossain were joined the function as guest of honors.
Khalikuzzaman said that the activities of the Entrepreneurial Economics Department will play a major role in the country's economy in the coming days.

He also expressed hope that the Department of Entrepreneurial Economy will play an effective role in eliminating the disparity between the rich and the poor.
Professor Dr Mohammad Mahboob Ali, coordinator of entrepreneurship economics of Dhaka School of economics, presided over the function.
He said the department of entrepreneurial economics is working to create an entrepreneurship movement among the youth population of the country.
Rehana Parvin and Sara Tasneem, assistant professor of Dhaka School of Economics among others, were present at the prize awarding ceremony of the winner of indoor game.

Bangladesh emerged from language movement- Qazi Kholiquzzaman
Eminent economist, chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad emphasized speaking Bengali correctly as the language has a long history and heritage.
He called for preserving the elements of heritage at local and regional level for the future generation.
The Bengali language should be practiced all the year, not in a specific month of the year as it is a constitutional right of the people, Kholiquzzaman said.

He came up with remarks while addressing as the chief guest at a webinar titled ‘70 Years of Language Movement & International mother language day-2022’ organized by Dhaka School of Economics on Monday.
He discussed the significance of the language movement in 1952 to the emergence of Bangladesh in 1971.
He argued for the use of Bengali language in judicial proceedings and medical sector of the country and international negotiation.
The seminar was presided over by Entrepreneurial expert and Macroeconomic specialist Professor Dr.Muhammad Mahboob Ali.
He praised the role of the father of the nation Bangabandhu in the language movement and creation of Bangladesh.
Among others assistant professors of Dhaka School of Economics Rehana Parvin,Sara Tasneem, Afia Akter and Mohammad Aman Ullah Aman, spoke at the webinar.
