Tigers eye to seal the series vs India
After a remarkable victory in the first match of the three-match series, Bangladesh are now looking to secure the series over India on Wednesday with one match remaining.
Seven years after their historic series win against India in 2015, Bangladesh are on the brink of winning another ODI series against a stronger opposition like India.

That incredible victory was aided by the stellar performance of Mustafizur Rahman, who made a tremendous impression in his debut series with a remarkable display of bowling that left India's batting line-up in tatters.
“Our team is confident in this format,” Bangladesh coach Russell Doming said on Tuesday. And he added that it won’t be easy for the Tigers to pull off a series win against India who have all the weapons to fire strongly.
“India are a quality side. They will come back strong. But I’d rather go into tomorrow’s game 1-0 up than 0-1 down,” the Bangladesh coach added.
In the first match, Bangladesh chased down a below-par total of 186 runs with a remarkable 51-run partnership on the last wicket. Without the stellar performance of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the outcome of the game could have been vastly different.

Bangladesh coach insisted that the Tigers will have to bat well in the next matches. “We have to play better cricket than the first game, particularly with the bat. We can’t get away with it again,” he said.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad had difficulty making an impact in the first match on a surface that posed a challenge to batters, combining for 18 and 14 runs respectively and putting Bangladesh in a precarious position as they chased a below-par total.
Domingo, however, expressed full faith in Mahmudullah, noting that he will soon get back into his better form and reminding everyone of his 80 runs in the last ODI series in Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh are looking to secure a victory in the series, while Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan expressed his team's desire to come back strong in the second match of the series.
“We know how to bounce back from this sort of situation,” Shikhar said in the pre-match press meet on Tuesday. “This is not the first time when we lost the first match of the series. It’s quite normal.”
Shikhar noted India's desire to come back strong in this series, while also praising the highly passionate spectators of Bangladesh for bringing enthusiasm and intensity to each match.

“You always feel that rivalry against Bangladesh, and of course, that happens against any team. But I feel Bangladeshi people are quite emotional and they really enjoy it and come with intensity,” Shikhar added mentioning that people of Bangladesh bring intensity to their games as well.
The match will start at 12pm (Dhaka time) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Following this match, the series will move to the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram for the third and final ODI.

Bangladesh vs India: Taskin uncertain for 2nd ODI
Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed's participation in the upcoming second ODI against India on December 7 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is uncertain due to fitness concerns.
Bangladesh coach, Russell Doming, mentioned that they are unwilling to take any risk with Taskin's health since he is not yet a “hundred percent ready” to return to competitive cricket.
After sustaining an injury to his back in the aftermath of the T20 World Cup in Australia, Taskin Ahmed has been undergoing a rehabilitation program.
On Tuesday, Doming shed some light on the pacer's current situation, stating that he had received a painkiller injection and bowled five overs, but was still not fit enough for competitive cricket.

With upcoming matches such as a two-match Test series against India, Doming asserted that they could not risk Taskin's health at this point.
Ebadot Hossain stepped in to replace Taskin in the series opener, and Bangladesh triumphed thanks to a remarkable batting performance from Mehidy Hasan Miraz who orchestrated a 51-run partnership with Mustafizur Rahman for the last wicket.
Ebadot was also effective with the ball, taking four wickets and conceding just 47 runs – his best showing in an ODI match. This was only his second ODI appearance.

Shakib Al Hasan was the standout performer among the bowlers in the first match, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul against India. His brilliance along with Ebadot's pace bowling saw India all out for 186, and Bangladesh emerged victorious with only one wicket to spare in their chase.
Bangladesh will strive to clinch the series in the second match against India, which is scheduled to take place in Chattogram on December 10, providing them with a game in hand.

India fined for slow over-rate in 1st ODI vs Bangladesh
Despite the bitter taste of defeat in the first match still lingering, the Indian team was penalised 80 percent of their match fee due to maintaining a slow over-rate in the initial ODI versus Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday.
The ICC revealed the development on Monday afternoon.
Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the fine after India were ruled to be four overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In spite of being ahead in the match for the bulk of Bangladesh's innings, India eventually succumbed to defeat by one wicket. The visitors batted first after losing the toss, and were restricted to only 186 runs due to the superior bowling performances of Shakib Al Hasan and Ebadot Hossain.
While Shakib scalped five wickets in the match, Ebadot registered his maiden four-wicket haul.
In reply, Mehidy spearheaded Bangladesh to an extraordinary victory. Needing 51 runs for victory with only a solitary wicket remaining, the home side displayed immense courage in the face of adversity to pull off a remarkable win, largely due to the heroic batting efforts of Mehidy.

BAN vs IND: Tigers not letting first win go to their head
Right-arm pacer Ebadot Hossain stated that his team's remarkable one-wicket victory in the first of the three-match ODI series against India is not going to their head. The teams will face off again in the second ODI on December 7 at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
When the ninth wicket fell, Bangladesh were still needing a daunting 51 runs for victory. Yet, through sheer determination and skill, Mehidy Hasan Miraz steered Bangladesh to an unlikely victory over India, utterly defying the odds before the final run was scored.
Mustafizur Rahman joined Mehidy in the last wicket partnership that the Mirpur crowd will cherish for years to come.
“We are pleased to have gotten off to a good start in this series," Ebadot commented on Monday while addressing the media. "However, we cannot forget that the series is not over yet. We still have more matches to play and everyone is determined to do their best and achieve a favorable result.”

Is Mehidy Hasan Miraz best Bangladeshi all-rounder in 2022?
Mehidy Hasan Miraz made the headlines after helping Bangladesh register a memorable victory over India in the first ODI of the three-match series. While chasing India's 186, Miraz's 51-run stand with Mustafizur Rahman at the 10th wicket sealed the contest with four overs to spare. Mehidy Miraz seemed to take his level one step further, and even some of his numbers indicate that he has been the best all-rounder for Bangladesh in 2022. Let's take a look at some key figures that make Miraz different from others.
Miraz's overall all-round statistics so far in 2022
It may come as a surprise to many Tigers' cricket fans that Mehidy Hasan Miraz has a better record than other Bangladesh all-rounders for the national side in 2022. Miraz's overall performance across formats has been impressive, in some cases even better than Shakib's. Let's take an example from his bowling figure. Miraz is the most successful bowler for the Tigers this year with 45 wickets in 25 matches, 11 more than second-placed Shakib Al Hasan, who has played 26 games.

Mehidy Miraz’s performance with the bat has been pretty noticeable considering his batting position. Except for a few cases when the team management wants to experiment by sending Miraz to open the innings, he usually bats at Nos. 7 and 8, and sometimes even at No. 9.
Miraz doesn’t get enough chances to contribute heavily with the bat. But whenever he gets an opportunity, he tries to capitalize on it, especially in recent games. Fans praise Miraz after his effective performance against India yesterday, but nobody shouldn’t forget his record-breaking stand with Afif Hossain in the seventh wicket, which helped Bangladesh register a magnificent victory over Afghanistan earlier this year.
It seems Miraz is enjoying taking responsibility with the bat, and he is currently in the seventh position in the most run scorers chart for Bangladesh in 2022 with 481 runs to his name. This number is simply outstanding considering his batting position.
Miraz is second among all-rounders, trailing only Sahkib Al Hasan (755). But Shakib plays at the top of the order or higher middle-order sometimes, which everyone needs to consider.
Afif Hossain, who has four international wickets this year, is second in the most run scorers chart overall. However, Afif has mostly been used as a part-time bowler for Bangladesh. Besides, Mehidy Miraz’s best knock so far this year is 81, which is also better than Shakib’s 77.

Way Forward
Mehidy Miraz, whom many consider the future captain of Bangladesh, is enjoying shouldering extra responsibility lately. His recent numbers on the international scene have been impressive, and anyone can dare to compare him with Shakib Al Hasan. Miraz is certainly one of the best all-rounders in Bangladesh at the moment, if not the best.

Had only winning in mind: Mehidy
After shepherding Bangladesh to a thrilling victory against India from a seemingly lost position, Mehidy Hasan Miraz revealed he had only one thing on his mind, to win the game for his team, even as last man Mustafizur Rahman joined him in the middle with 50 runs still required to win.
Bangladesh produced a lacklustre batting display while in pursuit of 187 runs. Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed off the first ball, prodding at a delivery outside the off stump to first slip.
The hosts adopted an ultra-slow approach against India's quality bowling attack, and it all seemed to have gone horribly wrong when the side lost five wickets in a span of 27 balls scoring just eight runs.

Ultimately Bangladesh managed to clinch the win thanks to Mehidy’s extraordinary effort with the bat, and his maturity in guiding Mustafizur through the unbroken, matchwinning last-wicket partnership.
“It may sound crazy, but I'm telling the truth when I say that I had the belief we could do it,” Mehidy declared in the post-match press conference. “I was addressing my partners and told them we didn't have to lose hope even after losing quick wickets.”
After Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for 18 off 45 balls, Mehidy Hasan came to bat at number eight and had an immense responsibility to steer the Tigers back on track. Unfortunately, Afif Hossain failed to accompany him in the pursuit.
After Afif, Ebadot Hossain and Hasan Mahmud failed to provide adequate support to Mehidy in the middle. However, Mustafizur Rahman proved to be a sturdy ally, standing out strongly for Bangladesh.

“When Mustafizur arrived in the middle, he told me he wouldn't get dismissed and that he would take any ball that came his way and take it on his body,” Mehidy said, commending his partner's courage. “It really inspired me.”
Bangladesh have endured a number of crushing defeats to India in recent years, with heartbreaks including failing to score two runs off three balls in the 2016 T20 World Cup, unsuccessfully defending 12 runs off the last over of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy final, and losing in the last T20 World Cup by just five runs earlier this year. However, Bangladesh were finally able to turn the tides in their favour on this occasion.
Mehdiy was determined to end their streak of close defeats against India. “This is a start,” he declared. “We have been too close for too long. We need to play differently from now on.”

Mehidy, Fizz carry Bangladesh to nailbiting win over India
Bangladesh pulled off an incredible one-wicket victory over India in Mirpur on Sunday. The outcome was sealed by a remarkable 51-run partnership between Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman for the last wicket, propelling the hosts forward in the series.
Despite a dismal batting performance that saw Bangladesh lose five wickets for eight runs in the span of 27 balls - from 128/4 to 136/9 -, a win was unexpected for the Tigers. But Mehidy and Mustafizur led the hosts to a memorable victory against the odds.
Mehidy remained unbeaten with 38 runs off 39 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes. Mustafizur also remained not out after scoring 10 runs off 11 balls.
In pursuit of 187, Bangladesh got off to a slow start as they lost four wickets within 95 runs. Liton Das top-scored among the top-order batters with 41 runs off 63 balls, while Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed off the first ball, prodding a Dipak Chahar delivery towards the first slip.
Liton and Anamaul Haque Bijoy managed to steady the ship with a 26-run partnership before Anamul had a close call when the umpire overturned a lbw call after the third umpire determined the ball was missing the leg-stump.

In the fifth wicket, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim were guiding the Tigers towards a victory over India.
Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan produced a remarkable performance with the ball as he scalped five wickets for 36 runs - the best bowling figures for a left-arm spinner in ODIs against India. It was also his fourth five-wicket haul in ODIs. In response, India's Lokesh Rahul hit the highest score of 73 runs, after India had lost the toss and were put to bat first.

Bangladesh wrap up India under 200 as Shakib picks up five
Shakib Al Hasan's incredible performance on the tricky Mirpur surface resulted in his fourth five-wicket haul in ODIs, leading Bangladesh to a better position in the match as India mustered a mere 186 runs with all ten wickets lost - India's second-lowest total against Bangladesh while batting first.
Shakib began with a bang, claiming the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in his opening over. From then on, he never looked back and finished with an exceptional five-wicket haul against India, with another double-strike in his seventh over.
After his initial success with the ball, Shakib kept striking and claimed the scalps of Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Dipak Chahar in just 6.4 overs.

The Indian batters had a tough time facing the spin prowess of Shakib in Mirpur, as the rugged surface provided plenty of assistance to the bowlers. Shakib ended up taking five for 36.
Bangladesh's pace attack discovered varying bounce while the spinners were gifted ample varieties as well - truly making this a challenging encounter between Indian batters and Bangladeshi bowlers.
Whilst the other batters were battling against tough bowling challenge, Lokesh Rahul stood out with an impressive half-century in the match.
Along with Shakib, right-arm pacer Ebadto Hossain, who was playing only his second ODI, also tested the Indian batters. He picked up four wickets, conceding 47 runs— his career-best bowling.
