Star Cineplex, the country's largest multiplex chain, has announced that it will screen the highly anticipated Hollywood post-apocalyptic horror film 'A Quiet Place: Day One' on June 28, coinciding with its international release. 'A Quiet Place: Day One' is a spin-off prequel to the 2020 film 'A Quiet Place: Part II' and continues the acclaimed 'A Quiet Place' franchise. The original film, released in 2018, and its sequel were directed by renowned American filmmaker-actor John Krasinski. The franchise's first film centered on a family, with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski portraying a mother and father struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing. The 2020 sequel followed the family's ongoing battle for survival in the same perilous environment. The much-anticipated prequel follows a new character named Sam, played by Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, during the early stages of an alien invasion in New York City. These alien creatures possess ultrasonic hearing, adding to the film's suspenseful atmosphere. Initially conceived by John Krasinski, the spin-off prequel was announced in November 2020, with Jeff Nichols set to write and direct. At a time when the Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan-starrer Eid blockbuster ‘Toofan’ is running successfully across theatres and multiplexes all over the country, the film’s latest song ‘Dushtu Kokil’ is currently reigning number 1 among the top trending YouTube content in Bangladesh. Premiered on June 30, the song has already become a super hit among audiences and garnered over 11 million views on the official YouTube channel of Chorki, one of the co-producers of the film. Simultaneously, it has gained over five million views on the film’s Indian producer SVF’s official YouTube channel. The song is currently ranked as the number-one content in terms of trending Bangladeshi content on YouTube, as mentioned earlier. KM Shohag Rana directed Eid drama ‘Chader Haat’, starring Tawsif Mahbub and Keya Payel, is ranked number-two as the currently trending YouTube content, while a report of a private television channel regarding Russels Viper snake is ranked number-three, as of this report. Written and composed by Indian-Bengali music producer and singer Akassh Sen, ‘Dushtu Kokil’ is sung by renowned  Bangladeshi singer Dilshad Nahar Kona and Akassh himself. West Bengal’s popular actress Mimi Chakraborty delivered a tantalizing dance performance in the song, alongside Shakib Khan who portrayed a brutal gangster. Released this Eid-ul-Azha and scheduled to have its international release on June 28, ‘Toofan’ is currently running successfully in 129 cinema halls across the country. The film has already shattered multiple records for Bangladeshi cinema, according to its producers and several multiplex authorities.

Monjurul Islam Megh's film "Moyna" (I want to be a Mother) clinched the Special Mention Feature Film award at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival in Italy.  The 10th edition of the festival was held from June 11 to 14 in Naples. Megh, who directed the film, expressed his satisfaction at Bangladesh's cinema making its mark internationally.  He acknowledged the responsibility that accompanies such recognition, aiming to surpass expectations with his next projects. “The film 'Moyna' is made to resonate with a wide range of viewers. I firmly believe that its appeal will extend beyond international film festivals to also be appreciated by audiences in our country,” Megh said. According to the film's producer, Alim Ullah Khokon, "Moyna" has received clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board and is scheduled for release in local theaters next September. Prior to its local release in September, he said the movie will be showcased at several international film festivals. "Moyna" had earlier garnered the best film production award at the 25th EMMA’S BBC Festival of Multicultural 2023 in London and is scheduled to feature in the 21st Aporia International Village Film Festival in Korea this August. The screenplay and dialogues of the film were penned by Megh, based on a story by Alim Ullah Khokon.  The film features a talented cast including Raj Ripa, Kayes Arju, Aman Reza, Affan Mitul, Jilani, Momena Chowdhury, Nader Chowdhury, Subrata, Suchona, Khalilur Rahman Qadri, Shishir, and child artist Jannatul Bhor.

Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan, who is once again all set to enthral his fans and admirers on the occasion of Eid with the Raihan Rafi-directed film ‘Toofan’, said that the film will create history once it hits the theatres this upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. "For the last 25 years, I have acted in a number of movies on a regular basis, alongside our Eid special films - which were admired by our loving fans. This Eid, I can confidently say that ‘Toofan’ will make history if the audience stays with us like this," the lead actor of ‘Toofan’ said on Wednesday night. The Popular OTT platform Chorki is all set to release its brand new original series 'Baaji' ,marking the OTT debut of popular singer-actor Tahsan Khan and also bringing the former celebrity couple Tahsan-Mithila in the same series.
