Two children drowned in a pond in Feni’s Sonagazi upazila on Sunday.
The incident took place at the upazila’s Bhadadia village under Motiganj Union.
Police said they victims were Md Imran Hossain, 6, son of Ilias, and Md Nahid, 7, son of Abdul Latif.
Locals said they had been missing after they went out for a bath at the pond.
Later, they were rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctors pronounced them dead.
A study released last year said 30 children drowned every day in Bangladesh on average and about 40 percent of the deaths occur among children below 15 years.
