The weather department has predicted showers across Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with cyclone ‘Asani’ weakening into a depression.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Thursday.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the department said in its weather bulletin.
The maximum rainfall was recorded in Sylhet at 78 mm in the past 24 hours, as per the bulletin.
Meanwhile, ‘Asani’ over the west-central Bay off Andhra coast moved westwards and weakened into a deep depression first and then into a depression.

It was centred over the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas at 6am, the bulletin said.
The trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, it added.
