A minor body drowned in a pond in Nalithuba village of Faridganj upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Siam Hossain, two and a half years old son of Rubel Mia of Srirandi village of Sadar upazila.
Locals said Siam’s mother along with her son went to visit her father’s house in Nalithuba village where the incident occurred.
Family members found his body floating in the pond.
Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to Chandpur General Hosptial, said Residential Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Sujauddoula Rubel.
