A 25-year-old tourist drowned while swimming in the Piyain River near the zero point in Sylhet Jaflong on Saturday. The deceased, Ahmed Jawad, was the son of Dr Aftab Uddin and a resident of Nahar Road in Mymensingh. His body was recovered around 2:30 pm from an area near a waterfall. Sarkar Tofail, officer-in-charge of Gowainghat Police Station, confirmed the matter. 15-month-old girl drowns in Dinajpur pond According to police and local sources, Jawad was swimming with a group when he was swept away by the river's current. Friends and locals attempted to rescue him and rushed him to a nearby clinic, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician. The body would be handed over to Jawad’s family following the completion of legal procedures, said the OC. Madrasha student drowns in Turag River  

A 26-year old tourist drowned in Rangamati’s Kaptai Lake Saturday. The deceased was identified as Rubayet Islam, a resident of Pahartali area in Chattogram city. A diving team of fire service fished out his body at 5:36 pm, said Md Billal Hossain, station officer of Rangamati Fire Service and Civil Defence. A five-year-old boy who went for a swim in the River Kaliganga in Manikganj drowned after drifting into deeper waters Friday. Fire service said the incident took place between 11am at Beutha as Rohan Rahman from Manikganj municipality and a few other children went to the river for a swim. Read: Schoolboy drowns in city pond On information, a team of Manikganj Fire Service and Civil Defence carried out a rescue operation for two hours. But Rohan still remained missing. "Later, firefighters from Manikganj's Shibaloy joined them. Unfortunately, they could only fish out Rohan's stiff body at 1:30pm," Md Shariful Islam, deputy assistant director of Manikganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, told UNB.  

A one and a half year old child drowned in a well at Tanjpur  in Fultala upazila in Khulna on Wednesday . The deceased was identified as Jararul Islam, son of Ramzan Ali of Tajpur Garuhat area. The incident occurred near their house at around 3 pm on Wednesday, said ASI Babul Das of Fultana police station. When his mother did not see him at the courtyard after some time she started searching the child and later his body was found in the well near their house. The child was rushed to Fultala Upazila Health Complex but doctors declared him dead.

A student of Dinajpur Medical College died after slipping into a quicksand near the bank of Jamuna River in Bagura on Saturday, police said. Md Mosabbir Hossain alias Fine, 22, a second year student, went for a boat ride on the river in the morning. He stepped into the quicksand as he got down in the swallow waters close to the river bank near Prem Jamuna Ghat area in Sariakandi upazila. Officer-in-Charge of Sariakandi police station Mizanur Rahman said Mosabbir was rescued from the quicksand by locals and rushed to Upazila Health Complex, where doctors found him dead.   READ: 'Silent Killer' strikes again: Cousins drown in Dinajpur pond His body was handed over to the family members and a case of unnatural death was filed in this regard, said OC Mizanur.    

A student of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) drowned in a pond on the campus while taking selfie on Thursday noon.

A minor body drowned in a pond in Nalithuba village of Faridganj upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.
