“China has assured Bangladesh of extending all kinds of assistance to tackle the coronavirus,” he said while talking to reporters at his Baridhara residence after an emergency meeting with Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Li Jiming.
The minister also said Bangladesh helped China when they were struggling to deal with the coronavirus situation. “Now, China wants to stand beside us by sending physicians, nurses and medical equipment. The nation will ever remember with gratitude such friendly attitude of China,” he added.
Health Services Division Secretary Asadul Islam and Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad were, among others, present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, three more people have been diagnosed with coronavirus, taking the number of cases to 27 in the country. Besides, Bangladesh reported two deaths from the Covid-19 disease.
The number of globally confirmed coronavirus cases rose to more than 300,000 on Sunday. So far, the virus has claimed 13,068 lives -- a mortality rate of 12 percent, according to Worldometer.
