The district administration put Chandpur under complete lockdown on Thursday evening to limit the transmission of coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Md Mazedur Rahman announced the decision after a meeting of Coronavirus Control and Prevention District Committee at afternoon.
The lockdown came into effect at 7pm. A public notice issued in this regard said it will be effective until further notice.
Meanwhile, 177 people were sent to home-quarantine in the district, said Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shakhawat Ullah.
Currently, three patients with symptoms of coronavirus are undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Chandpur General Hospital, he added.
Bangladesh has seen a rise in coronavirus cases in recent days. On Thursday, the country reported 112 new cases and one death. So far, the country has recorded 330 cases – 21 of them have died.
