Almost all areas of the city present the same scenario of hanging wires on the roadsides posing high risk of unwanted accidents for the city dwellers.
On August 10, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said the city corporation will take action to make it free from overhead cables by next December.
All overhead cables on Gulshan Avenue (from Pakistan Embassy to Gulshan Shooting Club) will be put underground by October 1, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam said on July 30.
Although the city corporations recently operated drives to free Dhaka city from the horrible power cables but yet to see any success.

The overhead cable reappeared within a few days after the mobile courts finished their drives.
