In a special weather bulletin, the Met Office said the depression is likely to intensify.
It was about 1,345 km South-Southwest of Chattogram port, 1,270 km South-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 1,325 km South of Mongla port and 1,285 km South of Payra port at 6pm.

The Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice.
Meanwhile, the Met Office also forecast that rain or thundershowers with lighting flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind would likely occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
A mild heat wave sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Madaripur, Rangmati, Rajshahi,Pabna, Barishal and Patuakhali may abate from some places.
The day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Today’s highest temperature was recorded 37.2 degree Celsius in Jashore and lowest 20.6C in Kushtia.
Besides, the highest rainfall was recorded in Ishwardi of Rajshahi division.
