Dhaka captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and sent Khulna bat first who posted 146 for eight in 20 overs. In reply, Dhaka lost three wickets before scoring 20 runs and eventually ended up embarrassingly bowled out for 109 in 19.2 overs.
Top three batsmen of Dhaka— Tanzid Hasan, Mohammad Naim and Robiul Islam Robi— scored 4, 1 and 4 respectively. Dhaka failed to recover from this early damage.
In the fourth wicket stand, Mushfiqur and Yasir Ali posted 57 runs to the board. But it was not enough for them to stay alive in the race. Yasir fell for 21 off 29 balls, and Mushfiqur followed him scoring 37 off 35 balls.
Hasan Mahmud broke this partnership removing Yasir Ali while Shuvagata Hom trapped Mushfiqur prompting him to go for a sweep. Shamim Hossain took an easy catch at square leg to remove Mushfiqur. Akbar Ali (4), Nayeem Hasan (3) and Nasum Ahmed (7) have little to save the game for Dhaka.
Shuvagata and Shahidul Islam bagged three wickets each conceding 13 and 30 runs respectively.
Earlier, despite the poor batting display from Anamul Haque (5), Shakib Al Hasan (11), Jahurul Islam (4), Khulna posted 146 riding on the bats of Imrul Kayes (29), Mahmudullah Riyad (45) and Ariful Haque (19).
Rubel scalped three for Dhaka while the debutant Shafiqul Islam took two and Nasum and Nayeem bagged one each.
