In a battle of pride and glory, newly crowned Bashundhara Kings beat runners-up Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 3-2 goals in the 21st round match of the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at a rain soaked ground of the Bashundhara Sports Complex here on Monday.
The match was locked in 1-1 goals in the first half.
The first phase match between two teams ended in a 2-2 draw at the Sylhet District Stadium last April.
In the day's crucial match, Brazilian playmaker cum Kings captain Robson Robinho made the difference between two teams scoring two goals in the later part of the match after Gambian striker Nuha Marong put the Kings ahead in the 20th minute.
Local medio Rakib Hossain and Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored for the traditional sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani, one in each half.

Midfielder Rakib Hossain restored the parity for league runners up Dhaka Abahani in the stoppage time of the first half 45+1 minute.(1-1).
Brazilian play maker Robson Robinho again put the Kings ahead in the 71st minute by an angular ground shot from dander zone, off a Mahbubur Rahman Sufil pass (2-1) and he confirmed the Kings victory scoring his 2nd goal in the first minute of the stoppage time (90+1 minute) (3-1).

Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto reduced the Abahani margin in the 6th minute of the stoppage time (90+6 minute) by pushing the ball home following a penalty (3-2).
Earlier in the 83rd minute, a header of Abahani's Dorielton Gomes, off Daniel Colindres, returned to play, hitting side bar.
Bashundhara Kings, which earned a rare feat of clinching the hattrick title of BPL Football earlier with two matches to spare, further increased their points tally to 54 points from 21 matches with 17 win, three draw and one defeat against relegation bound and new comers Swadhinata KS in opener.
Dhaka Abahani, which earlier assured league runners up position, also with two matches spare, remained at 44 points from 21 encounters with day's 3rd defeat in the league.
This was the first hattrick title for Bashundhara Kings and the 2nd hattrick title in the BPL history
after Dhaka Abahani, which won the BPL crown for a record six times, including first three times in row in the year 2007, 2008-2009, 2009-2010.
Bashundhara Kings, which were deprived of the season's two major soccer trophies, deprived the Independence Cup and Federation Cup Football champions Dhaka Abahani for winning the triple crown in the season, by clinching the league title comfortably beating Abahani after three matches.
The champions Kings will play three times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on July 31 while runners up Dhaka Abahani will meet lowly Uttar Baridhara Club on the same day (July 31) in their last league matches. .
