It was their fifth win in the event while the Platoon endured their fourth defeat. The Platoon have already booked a berth in the playoff while the Rangers were eliminated earlier.
Replying to 149 of the Rangers for nine in 20 overs, Platoon crumbled for 138 for nine in 20 overs and lost the game by 11 runs.
Platoon lost opener Anamul Haque Bijoy for five. But in the second wicket, Tamim Iqbal and Mahedi Hasan added 46 runs on the board.
But after the dismissal of Mahdi for 20 off 24 balls with three fours, Platoon lost Mominul Haque (18) and Thisara Perera (8) in quick succession.
In the middle overs, Platoon lost some quick wickets which dashed their hopes of victory.
Shadab Khan (16) and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (12) reached double-digit scores, but they needed to make their innings longer in order to seal the game.
Junaid Khan, Shadab Khan and Arafat Sunny bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, Platoon won the toss and sent Rangers to bat first. They amassed only 11 runs in the first wicket. Rangers captain Shane Watson was removed by Platoon captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for 10 off eight balls with one four and one six.
South African batsman Cameron Delport came to bat at number three but failed to impress in his last innings of this year’s BPL- scoring only six off eight deliveries with one four. Opener Mohammad Naim fell as the third wicket scoring 17 off 21 balls.
In the fourth wicket stand, Lewis Gregory and Al Amin posted 49 runs which helped the Rangers to go for a challenging total. Gregory posted 46 off 32 with five fours and two sixes while Al Amin scored 35 off 24 balls with four fours and one six.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Jahurul Islam hit 28 off 24 balls with four fours and with this, Rangers posted 145 for nine in 20 overs. They lost four wickets in the last over with two were removed by Thisara Perera and other two fell prey to run-out.
Perera bagged three wickets conceding 23 runs in three overs while Shadab Khan took two wickets conceding 25 runs in four overs.
Platoon will face off Khulna Tigers in their last league phase game on January 11 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
