Grameenphone (GP) will donate 50,000 units of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and 10,000 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test kits to hospitals designated for coronavirus treatment by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
These will help protect health professionals on the frontline tackling the outbreak situation, said a press release of GP.
Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar welcomed the initiative, and said he hoped other companies will also come forward and stand beside the government to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak.
Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, said: "This is our utmost responsibility to contribute as individuals and corporations during this unprecedented global crisis.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh confirmed its sixth coronavirus death and three more cases on Wednesday, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 54.
