The camera sensors are located in the upper left corner of the device. The power button and alert slider are on the left edge, the volume rocker keys are on the right, and the speaker grille, dual SIM slot, and USB-C connector are on the bottom.

Display

The OnePlus 9R features a screen that is identical to that of the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9. It is a flat 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR10+. It will give you a quick and responsive display experience as the refresh rate is high.

The overall color reproduction is good, and the contrast levels are likewise suitable. A special 'Vibrant Color Effect' is available under the display options, which is claimed to optimize video colors and contrast to make it look more vivid. The images captured in the daylight are vivid and bright — with just the right amount of color reproduction.

The ultrawide angle sensor exhibits slight distortion, but nothing glaring. The detail in the zoomed-in shots is also excellent.

Battery and Charger

The OnePlus 9R presents a 4500mAh mid-powered battery and a 65W fast charger.  Depending on your usage, which ranges from moderate to heavy, you should be able to get a full day's worth of use or more without having to run to the charger every few hours.

The superfast charger takes only around 45 minutes to fill up the empty battery. However, it shares an older design with a Type-A port rather than the Type-C port found on other OnePlus 9 models.

OnePlus 9R has some good features. The sound quality of speaker is praiseworthy. The position of its fingerprint sensor is user-friendly and the unlocking sensor works fast. Its sharp display complements the design and delivers a powerful performance. The provided camera segment is more than capable. The standard battery is accompanied by a powerful charger.

Though Wifi and mobile network performs well, sometimes you may face difficulties to listen clearly during calls. OnePlus 9R’s Oxygen OS is criticized for its bugs that cause diverse issues. Not to mention, OnePlus should be careful about the software stability issue. And, the price tag of OnePlus 9R questions its label of ‘Flagship Killer’.

In terms of specs, the device is similar to the OnePlus 8T, or Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, or Redmi K40 Pro, which are currently cheaper than the OnePlus 9R. Unless you are a diehard fan of OnePlus, this phone isn't recommended. However, if you want a good-looking phone that ticks all the necessary boxes, there's a lot to like about it.
