The Department of Information & Communication Technology (ICT Department) will purchase 85,000 laptops for 5,000 educational institutions across the country. The laptops will be procured under the Sheikh Russel Digital Lab Installation Project (Purchase-2) at a cost of Tk 487.21 crore.

The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase approved a proposal of the ICT Division to this regard at a meeting on Thursday, held with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
The proposal also includes the purchase of 5,000 routers, 5,000 network switches and other equipment to be supplied and installed by the supplier at the same cost.
The State-owned Telephone Shilpa Sangshad Ltd (TSS) will supply the laptops and install the labs.

The committee approved another proposal, placed by Ministry of Housing and Public Works, to construct a multi-storied building on the premises of Officers Club, Dhaka.
Padma Associates & Engineers Ltd won the contract of Tk 164.14 crore awarded by the Public Works Department (PWD).
