Long queues of motorcycles and vehicles stretched across fuel stations in the Asad Gate area of the capital, as motorcyclists and private car owners continued to struggle to refuel even after a recent increase in fuel prices.
Drivers were seen waiting for hours, with many reporting that they had arrived at stations late at night and remained in line overnight in hopes of securing petrol. Despite the price hike, supply constraints and rising demand have kept pressure on fuel stations, leading to persistent congestion in and around major filling points.
The situation has been worsened by a severe heat spell gripping Dhaka. Temperatures hovered around 35 degrees Celsius, while high humidity pushed the “feels-like” temperature significantly higher, making outdoor waiting conditions increasingly difficult and uncomfortable for commuters.
Many motorcyclists attempted to cope with the harsh sun by covering their body with umbrellas and cloth while standing in long queues at the pumps.
