The IGP made the call while inaugurating the Bangladesh Police Dormitory at the compound of Tejgaon Police Station in the capital on Tuesday.
The IGP said, Bangladesh police have declared war on terrorism and militancy. “We have been able to resist militancy. Anti-terror and anti-militant activities of the police have been widely acclaimed at home and abroad. We have also declared war on drugs like militancy”. He hoped that “with the help of the people we would win the war against drugs”.
The police chief said, many --Sub-Inspector and Inspector-- level police officers have to come to Dhaka daily for giving deposition in cases and also for other official purposes. However, there was no accommodation facility for them in Dhaka. Their residential crisis will be solved through building this dormitory.
“At present it is difficult to find suitable land for construction of police infrastructure in Dhaka city. For this, maximum use of land must be ensured. Construction work needs to be taken considering the upward expansion of the building”, said the IGP.
He urged all concerned to attach importance for the construction of buildings outside Dhaka.
