Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Tuesday said the commission will not allow corruption, bribery or harassment in the process of Monthly Pay Order (MPO) registration of educational institutions.
He sent out the message to the officials of the ACC's Intelligence Division, integrated district offices, divisional offices and said: “Under no circumstances should an incompetent teacher be enrolled under MPO scheme by paying bribe.”
The message also said the ACC will closely monitor the MPO registration process.
Earlier, the Intelligence Division informed the ACC that several teachers and employees involved in the new MPO registration are anonymously complaining about dishonest officials and employees of some Upazila Education Offices, District Education Offices and Regional Education Offices demanding money in the name of paper examination.
Iqbal Mahmood said the process should be monitored in such a way that no one can pay or take bribe. “Everyone should remember that paying and taking bribe are both criminal offences. Anyone involved in such practice will be brought to justice,” he added.
Some 2,730 new educational institutions were enlisted under the MPO scheme last year. The MPO registration of teachers and employees of the newly enlisted institutions are still ongoing.
