‘10 India returnee’ Covid patients flee Jashore hospital
Ten India returnees, who tested positive for coronavirus, have reportedly escaped from an isolated ward of the Jashore General Hospital.
The escapees have been identified as Fatema, 19, Ruma, 30, Shefali Rani, 42, Moni Mala, Nasima Begum, 50, Amirul, 52, Sohail, 17, Pradeep Biswas, 37, Vivekananda, 52, and Milon.

Hospital supervisor Dilip Kumar Roy told UNB that only two patients had fled and blamed the 'irresponsibility' of police for the incident.
Kotwali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Tajul Islam said they are yet to receive an official complaint over the incident.
“We’ll look into it after getting a complaint," he said.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shahin said the matter is being taken “very seriously”.

He said he went to the hospital on Sunday after hearing about the incident to talk to the supervisor. “It’ll be possible to trace them if the names and addresses given to the hospital authorities during admission are correct," he said.

11 doctors of Jashore hospital sent to quarantine
Eleven doctors and as many nurses of Jashore General Hospital were sent to home quarantine on Wednesday after they came in close contact with coronavirus patients.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Arif Ahmed said the doctors and staffers of the hospital were sent to 14-day quarantine after two patients of the hospital tested positive for coronavirus.
Dr Dilip Kumar Roy, supervisor of the hospital, said the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and medicine ward of the hospital were put under lockdown and the patients receiving treatment there were shifted to other wards.
“The samples of the doctors and nurses will be collected soon for testing,” he said.
According to Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians, 440 doctors at both private and public hospitals have been infected with the virus as of Wednesday.
Of them, 303 are from different government hospitals, 100 from private hospitals while 37 were shown in other category in the BDF data.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 7,103 coronavirus cases and 163 deaths.

Accused flees from Jashore coronavirus isolation unit
An accused, who was admitted to Jashore General Hospital with fever and cold, fled from the coronavirus isolation unit on Sunday night.
Sujon Mallik, alias Shakil, 27, is accused in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Hospital and police sources said Shakil was taken to court around 7pm on March 10 from jail. As he fell sick, he was sent to the hospital.
He was later transferred to the isolation unit.
The accused fled from hospital around 9:30pm breaking grills of the window, said medical officer Arif Ahmed.
Towhidur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (special branch), said they are conducting drives to arrest the accused.

35 more Bangladeshis return home from India through Benapole
Thirty five more Bangladeshi nationals, who got stuck in West Bengal during the ongoing lockdown in India, returned home through Benapole check-post on Saturday morning under an special arrangement.
Among them, five were sent to institutional quarantine at Jashore General Hospital as they had high body temperature, said Dr Jahidul Islam, health officer at the check-post.
Two of them from Gopalganj and three each from Khulna, Jashore, and Magura districts, he said.
Thirty other returnees with red seal in their hands were asked to remain in compulsory 14-day home-quarantine, he said.
Earlier on Friday, 81 other Bangladeshis returned home from India.
India allowed them to return home after discussions between the authorities concerned of the two countries .
Ahasan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Check Post, said they have kept full address and mobile phone numbers of all the returnees from India and those will be sent to their respective districts.
