Imam Khomeini's 33rd death anniversary observed in Bangladesh
The 33rd death anniversary of Imam Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was commemorated in Dhaka Saturday through a webinar.
Diplomats, scholars, analysts, and academics attended the seminar organised by Iran Cultural Centre in Dhaka and paid tribute to the struggle of Khomeini.
Khomeini was the undisputed leader of the oppressed people of the world, who established the Islamic Revolution and gave hope to the helpless and deprived people of the world, the speakers said.
The Islamic uprising he founded is a role model for development for the liberated people of the world today, they added.
Khomeini was simultaneously a philosopher, a fiqh (scholar of Islamic jurisprudence), political leader and spiritual saint.

Diplomats, scholars, analysts, and academics attended the seminar organised by Iran Cultural Centre in Dhaka and paid tribute to the struggle of Imam Khomeini.
Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mohammad Reza Nafar, Cultural Counsellor of Iran Cultural Centre in Dhaka Syed Hasan Sehat, former election commissioner of Bangladesh Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, Professor of the Department of Persian Language and Literature of University of Dhaka Dr KM Saiful Islam Khan, Islamic Education Centre Khulna Principal Hujjatul Islam Syed Ibrahim Khalil Razavi spoke at the programme.

"Imam Khomeini is a unique figure in the Muslim world whose influence was not limited to Iran. He was an invaluable asset to mankind and the Muslim world," Ambassador Reza Nafar said.
"The Iranian Revolution was an unprecedented event which surprised the whole world. Although Iran was a Muslim-majority country before the revolution, it stepped into a culture similar to that of Europe and the US. Imam Khomeini helped transform the country through the revolution with the great support of people," Sakhawat Hossain said.

Associate Professor of the Department of Persian Language and Literature of the University of Dhaka Dr Abu Musa Mohammad Arif Billah and Professor of the same Department of the University of Rajshahi Dr Md Kamal Uddin, eminent Islamic scholar Hujjatul Islam Syed Aftab Hossain Naqavi also joined the discussion.
