Two Hollywood blockbusters to premiere at Star Cineplex on July 4
The country's popular multiplex chain Star Cineplex is all set to delight Bangladeshi moviegoers with two major Hollywood releases—'Jurassic World: Rebirth' and '28 Years Later'—on July 4 (Friday)
Part of the iconic 'Jurassic Park' franchise, 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' is one of the most talked-about films this summer. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the movie is a standalone sequel to 'Jurassic World Dominion' (2022) and marks the seventh installment in the franchise that began in 1993 with 'Jurassic Park'.
Produced by Universal Pictures with a budget of $180 million, the film stars Scarlett Johansson in the lead role of Dr Zora Bennett, a specialist tasked with collecting DNA from the last remaining dinosaur species.
The story unfolds five years after the events of Dominion, as Bennett leads a team to a remote island—once home to the original Jurassic Park—where they uncover a long-buried, terrifying secret. The cast also includes Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid and Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr Henry Loomis.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Johansson described her character as “complex and mission-driven,” adding that Zora is not a typical action heroine but the emotional and strategic center of the film’s narrative.
Meanwhile, horror fans are in for a chilling treat with '28 Years Later', the third installment in the celebrated zombie-thriller franchise that began with '28 Days Later' in 2002. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle, the film has already made a strong impression, grossing $14 million on its opening day in North America.
Unmukt Chand’s reinvention explored in new documentary ‘Unbroken’
Set 28 years after the outbreak of the fictional Rage virus, the story follows 12-year-old Spike (Alfie Williams) who leaves a quarantined survivor village to find treatment for his ailing mother. Along the way, they face terrifying hordes of infected zombies and encounter Dr Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes, who has managed to survive in hiding for decades. The cast also features Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Notably, the film was shot entirely on iPhones, a creative choice that allowed the crew to film efficiently across rugged terrains in Northumberland. Boyle noted that the flexibility of the device helped them capture eerie, almost prehistoric landscapes that matched the film’s tone.
With action-packed storytelling, gripping performances, and technical innovation, both 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' and '28 Years Later' promise an unforgettable cinematic experience for Bangladeshi audiences this weekend.

These shocking and tragic losses have not only left fans in mourning but have also devastated families and friends.
Health experts point to a combination of factors such as increasing stress, erratic lifestyles, poor dietary habits, and undiagnosed medical conditions as possible contributors to this unsettling trend.

Cate Blanchett's surprise cameo ends ‘Squid Game’ finale
Fans of Netflix’s global hit Squid Game were bracing for shocking twists in the series finale—but few could have predicted the show-stopping surprise that closed out the final season.
In the closing moments of the last episode, the camera cuts to Los Angeles, where Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett appears, playing a character recruiting Americans for what appears to be a US version of the deadly competition.
The unexpected cameo instantly fuels speculation about the future of Squid Game, suggesting a possible US spinoff of the Korean dystopian thriller. So far, details remain scarce on who might direct the next chapter, who else will join the cast or how involved series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk will be, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
“The Squid Game universe suddenly gets a whole lot more global,” the show teases with Blanchett's appearance. More information from Netflix is expected in the coming weeks.
Blanchett’s casting brings instant prestige to the franchise. The Australian star has earned eight Academy Award nominations, winning twice for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine. Her recent projects include roles in Tár, Disclaimer, Rumors, and Black Bag. Known for working with top directors, her arrival signals major ambitions for the future of the series.

The latest season concludes the story of Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae) as he confronts The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) in a deadly showdown. Season three adds to the show's staggering death toll and pushes its anti-capitalist themes to new extremes, including the shocking inclusion of a newborn infant as a contestant.
Squid Game first captivated audiences upon its debut in September 2021, becoming Netflix’s most-watched show ever and earning Emmy wins for its creator and lead actor. Despite enormous expectations, season two broke new records, becoming the third most popular title in Netflix history after its premiere week.
With season three now available worldwide, the future of Squid Game—and its expansion beyond Korea—rests in the hands of its global audience.

Fantastic Four: First Steps final trailer teases Galactus’ arrival on Earth
The final trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps has arrived, offering the most detailed glimpse yet of Galactus- one of the greatest threats ever to emerge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set to hit theatres on July 25, the highly anticipated film promises a visually striking, retro-futuristic adventure filled with emotional drama, formidable heroes, and the arrival of a planet-devouring villain unlike anything seen before.
Marvel’s first family enters a retro world
First Steps transports viewers to a retro-futuristic Earth inspired by the 1960s, where Marvel’s legendary superhero team makes their debut. The film introduces Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm, the Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm, famously known as The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). They are joined by their infant son, Franklin Richards, and their eccentric robotic sidekick H.E.R.B.I.E., voiced by Matthew Wood.
Galactus and Silver Surfer make their debut
The trailer’s most striking reveal is Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson. Known as the “Eater of Worlds,” this colossal cosmic entity arrives with the sole purpose of devouring Earth — driven not by malice, but by an insatiable hunger. His arrival leaves the heroes overwhelmed, struggling to match his immense power and scale.
Sardaar Ji 3 to release in Pakistan after skipping India
Galactus is accompanied by Shalla-Bal, the film’s version of the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. However, longtime comic book fans know the Silver Surfer’s loyalty to Galactus may be short-lived. Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1960s “Galactus Trilogy,” the film’s storyline hints at a path that could demand sacrifice rather than triumph — with consequences that may reshape the entire multiverse.
High stakes and heroic sacrifices
The trailer suggests a darker, more serious tone compared to earlier MCU origin stories. Reed Richards openly questions whether Earth can even be saved, as the team appears weighed down not only by the threat of Galactus but also by the immense responsibility of safeguarding both the planet and their newborn son.
Yet, despite the looming danger, the film preserves a sense of awe — from its breathtaking cosmic landscapes to its nostalgic, retro-inspired world. And with a villain as colossal as Galactus, Marvel is teasing fans with the promise of limitless adventure when the film hits theaters.
