Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has decided to set up 12 markets, haats in locsl parlance, including a permanent one in Gabtoli while Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) decided to set up 15 haats, including a permanent one in Sarulia.
DNCC’s Public Relation Officer (PRO) ASM Mamun said they have already invited tenders for the lease of 11 cattle markets.
Under DNCC, the markets will be set up at Uttara Sector-15 from west side of Bridge-1 to West side circle of Bridge-2, Bhatara (Sayeednagar), playground of Polytechnic Institute, open space of Badda Eastern Housing (Aftabnagar), Mohammadpur Buddijibi Sarak (Basila) open space of Police Lines, Mirpur-Section-6 (open space of Eastern Housing), Uttara Sector-17 open space of Brindaban to BGMEA Bhaban, open space of Kaola Shialdanga, open space of Vasantek (open space of unused and abandoned part of under construction road and nrear by open space), Uttarkhan Moinertek Shahednagar Housing project open space, both-side roads of Dumni Bazar adjacent to Purbachal Bridge under Ward No-43.
Meanwhile, the number of DNCC makeshift cattle markets may cut short later as Mayor Atiqul Islam has announced that no cattle market would be set up at densely populated areas to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the city dwellers, the DNCC PRO said.
Besides, cattle markets of DSCC will be set up at Moitri Shangha playground adjoining Uttar Shajahanpur, open space of Hazaribagh Institute of Leather Techonology, Postogola crematorium, Golapbagh balur math and open space of Kamalapur Stadium, Ramrangichar Islam chairman house to southside Burigonga embankment, open space of adjoining area Shyampur Balurmath, Meradiya Bazar Khilgaon, Armanitola playground, open space of adjoining areas Jatrabari Dhonia college, Dhupkhola field, Sadeque Hossain Khoka playground, open space of Aftabnagar Eastern Housing Block-E-F,G,H and Section-1 and Section-2, open space of Shulia Model Town, Rahmatganj playground of Lalbagh. Another cattle hat will be set up at Sarulia permanent hat.
