Muazzem Ali, Bangladesh’s former Foreign Secretary and immediate-past High Commissioner to India, passed away at the hospital in the morning at the age of 75.
The Prime Minister went to the CMH around 2pm, talked to the family members of Muazzem Ali, including his wife, and consoled them, said PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.
She also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Muazzem Ali.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, PM's Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman and PMO's Senior Secretary Sajjadul Hassan were, among others, present.
In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock and sorrow at Ambassador Ali’s death and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.
She also recalled the outstanding contributions of Ambassador Ali to diplomatic front during the country’s War of Liberation in 1971.
