The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for income tax return submission up to December 31.
The revenue board made the move as many taxpayers are yet to file their return amid a spike in Covid-19 cases and fatalities.
NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem said this at a media briefing on Monday.
However, he said the previous day that the deadline would not be extended beyond November 30.
"Bangladesh has 50.72 lakh taxpayer identification number (TIN) holders. And 15 lakh registered taxpayers filed returns up to Monday," the NBR chief also said.
