Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday caught a man with 24 gold bars from Benapole’s Amrakhali.

The alleged gold smuggler was identified as 26-year-old Baki Billah.

Lieutenant Colonel Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-49, said: “Tipped off, we conducted a drive in Amrakhali.”

“Upon searching the passengers of an India-bound bus in Amrakhali, BGB held Baki with gold bars worth Tk2 crore.”

A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in this connection, Selim Reza said.
