Shaheen Ara Mumtaz, deputy director of ACC, interrogated them at the ACC head office after they were taken there from Keraniganj Central Jail at 3:40pm.
On December 14, the court granted them a three-day remand. Today is the first day of remand.
Shaheen Ara Mumtaz filed a case against Papia and her husband with the ACC’s Integrated District Office Dhaka-1 under Section 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004.
According to the case statement, the ACC has found that the couple amassed illegal wealth worth Tk 6,24,18,000.
On February 28, the ACC launched enquiry against Papia and her husband on charges of accumulating illegal wealth.
In the case, Papia has been accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 6.24 crore.

Earlier on August 4, the ACC filed the case against Papia and her husband Sumon on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
On Oct 12, a Dhaka court sentenced expelled Jubo Mohila League leader Papia and her husband to 27 years imprisonment each in an arms case.
Rab raided two flats belonging to Papia and Sumon on February 23, a day after arresting them from Dhaka airport.

Counterfeit notes and foreign currencies worth around Tk 2.5 lakh were seized from them during the drive.
About Tk 58 lakh was recovered from the two flats on Indira Road in Dhaka belonging to the couple and a presidential suite at a five-star hotel in the capital.
Apart from the lavish flats, Papia and her former Chhatra League leader husband own two more flats and two plots worth around Tk 2 crore in Narsingdi and a number of luxurious cars.

Three cases were filed against them – two at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Arms Act and the Special Powers Acts and another with Airport Police under the Special Powers Act-1974.
Two days after Papia's arrest, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the government has not let any criminal from inside or outside the ruling party off the hook.

Asked whether the names of Papia’s patrons will be revealed, the minister said there is no reason not to do so.
The government has taken a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ against any crime, and the law enforcement agencies are taking action accordingly, the minister added.

Mentioning that the law enforcement agencies have been given the freedom to take action against criminals, Quader said, “Action must be taken against criminals irrespective of their identities. During the tenure of this government, criminals of the ruling party have to face trial unlike in the past.”
