The titans’ battle will kick off at 6.30 pm at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The sky-blue popular Dhanmondi outfit Dhaka Abahani clinched the prestigious league crown for six times while Dhaka Mohammedan SC yet to touch the champion trophy.
In the ongoing league, Dhaka Abahani is in the title race securing seven points from three matches while Mohammedan bagged six points playing three matches.
Saif Sporting Club dominated the league with 10 points from four matches.
Prior to the match, the British coach of Mohammedan SC Shaun Lane said, “We want to win against Abahani, If we can win, we will get nine points to secure the 2nd position in the league table.
“Our Malian footballer Osman is ruled out for the season, he will not able to play without surgery and will return to Mali very soon,” the coach added
- said “we have beaten Sheikh Russel KC in the last match at their home venue, our players are motivated to do something good”.
The Portuguese coach of Dhaka Abahani Ltd Mario Lemos wanted to continue their winning run, “We didn’t qualify for the main round of the AFC Cup, in the domestic competition, we were eliminated from quarter final of the Federation Cup Football, Now, Abahani’s only goal is to win the league title”
“We have already lost two important points with Brothers Union. We don’t want to lose more points. In terms of quality players and the recent performance of Abahani is quiet ahead of the Mohammedans”
“We have to play better match on the day, without this we can’t beat Mohammedans. They are much better team than the last year. Their forward line is very strong” he added.
“In the last meeting, MSC won by 4-0. Mohammedan coach didn’t want to remember it, “lots of things have changed, Abahani is a very good team, we are considering them as the favorite.” He further said.
Abahani also have some injury problem like the Mohammedans. Abahani defender Tutul Hossain Badsha has been suffering from injury. He may not be able to play in the match.
However, defending champions Bashundhara Kings will face Rahamatgonj MFS on Wednesday’s first match at the same venue at 3.30 pm.
