Gulam Sakline Sithil, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Detective Branch under DMP, has been transferred to the West Division of Public Order Management (POM) for his alleged relationship with arrested film actress Pori Moni.

Gulam Sakline, ADC (DB-Gulshan), was introduced with Pori Moni in June this year when he was a supervising officer of a case filed with Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood.

Nasir Uddin was arrested by DB police on June 15 from Uttara over a case filed with Savar Police Station by actress Pori Moni for alleged attempt to rape and murder her.

According to media reports, Sakline had been maintaining a relationship with Pori Moni secretly.

But the matter came to light when members of elite force Rab detained Pori Moni from her Banani flat on Wednesday night.

They seized foreign liquor and narcotics from there. Later, a case was filed with Banani Police station against her the following day.

A video footage, which was leaked recently, showed that actress Pori Moni went to the official flat of Sakline in Rajarbagh residential area on the morning of August 1 and came out after around 18 hours.

Several media ran reports about their alleged relationship on Friday.

Following the reports, ADC Sakline was relieved from his duty as ADC (DB-Gulshan) on Saturday morning and he was transferred to the POM in the afternoon.

Contacted, ADC (media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Iftekharul Islam said Sakline was transferred to the POM on Saturday.

He, however, did not disclose the reason behind Sakline’s sudden transfer.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a specialized unit of the Bangladesh police, said it will investigate the alleged 'illicit relationship' of the DB official.

Talking to reporters at CID’s Malibagh office on Saturday, Additional DIG of CID Omar Farooq said the cases related to Pori Moni and her associates which were filed with Banani and other police stations are being investigated by the CID.

He said, " The cases [related to actress Pori Moni and her associates] were transferred to CID on August 6, and among the accused, Pori Moni, model Mou, Piyasa and Nazrul Islam Raj are currently in CID’s custody. However, Helena Jahangir and Mishu Hasan are not in our custody now. They’re in DMP’s custody for the purpose of investigation into other cases,” he said. 

Replying to a question, Omar Farooq said, "Of course, the allegations of the investigation officer's illicit relationship with the plaintiff in a case will come up for probe.

Asked about the involvement of influential people in the “misdeeds” of Pori Moni, Sheikh Omar Farooq, "Of course, if any one influential person is found involved, action will be taken against him or her as no one is above the law.
